Congrats to all who have received their NOA2! VSC is smoking. I checked the status of my case today on the USCIS and I received a "touch"....but no update. It still says "Initial Review". Should I expect my NOA2 soon because of this? I am getting excited, but I don't want to jump the gun.

Carolina+James, good luck!! Everything else should be in place so hopefully you'll get it approved quick!

Malolos, hopefully that's the case! Did you call them that day or the day before and had them pull up your file?

Good luck to Kevbev, irnmtn, and everyone else!!

I have not called. I know it would be pretty much useless to call since I am still within the USCIS 5 month window. I just HOPE that we will get the approval soon (tomorrow???).

That's good news then because it wasn't like you had initiated the touch. It was all them :)

Thank you!

And congrats to everyone approved. So didn't expect this speed when we started, all we heard was 6 months waiting for NOA1! Glad it is changing.

I am still lost on the call NVC thing. What is AP? And what exactly you ask on the phone "hey, is my case there?"

yeah, basically, you call in (you have to press 1 for English and then 5 to speak to an operator; K1 visas go through there so fast that they don't enter your case into the automated system beyond giving you a new number called your LND number), and say, "Have you received my file?" or "Have you sent my file off to Brasil?"

At the NVC, they do some FBI name checks to make sure that you or your fiance aren't criminals and I don't think they do much beyond that. Some people get put into whats called, "Additional Processing" (AP) which has no rhyme or reason for it. There is no estimated time length on it nor any maximum time for it. It's like a big hole that you can't see the way out of, hence why it is so frustrating. Good news is that reports on VJ sounds like it's usually <30 days.

Justine+David, you are right......we got our NOA2!!!! I checked my email this morning and there it was. I called my fiancee in the Philippines and she is so happy. But as many have said on here, we are now overwhelmed because the approval happened much faster than anticipated. We are not complaining though!!!

I still wish everyone else a speedy process.

Congrats!

Our petition was sent in last Aug.27 but didn't see any "touch". Should I worry then? Should we ask help or just wait?

I'm still hoping and praying though.

No, please don't worry yet. It should be coming at any time, you are not the only one on the August list still waiting. All months seem to appear on Igor's, so please don't worry any extra, because we all know how much energy is already beign spent! Keep your e-mail inbox always checked, other extra poking is not necessary.

Thank you for the NVC explanation, Justine+David.

Oh and the instructions about how to send an RFE answer are on Guides --> General Assembly Instructions. I asked for it the other day and forgot to come back with the exact place where I found it.

Good luck everyone!

Unfortunately, when you call, they will tell you that they can't do anything until it's been 5 months. I might start asking once you reach out of your VJ estimated time thing though; do a search on that topic on the K1 forum.

Some people never get touches...I got one touch 5 days after I got NOA1 (probably them entering it into the system or something) and then nothing until NOA2.
