Since Obama says he doesn't want single-payer, he's wrong, too?

Yes, he is. Single payer is the most efficient way to do it.

In this government, riddled with bloat, fraud and ineptitude, there is no efficiency involved with single-payer health care. Thank God Almighty it's dying on the vine.

So, the mighty US has the worst government in the developed world? Is that the essence of your statement?

Just to be obnoxious, it does depend how you define the developed world.

And, there is the catch-22: If we are the worst, as many one-worlders say, then we really should adopt the better models, and become just like Europe, and give up our childish American attitudes, as many have said, right here on VJ. So, than means you want exactly want the loonies fear.

Or, We should take pride in having the best government in the world, and there is no reason to change what is already working, which is the argument from the loonies on the right.

Nope. You can't win, the loonies have you bracketted. Fire for effect!

One-worlders? What are you smoking, Bill? Its the Right Wingers who consistently claim that government in general is incapable of doing anything good. Progressives consistently say that government can and does work and that reforming health care is a plausible task that government can take on.

What does the UN and the World Court have to do with the question of whether or not government can do a decent job on health care?

Or, We should take pride in having the best government in the world, and there is no reason to change what is already working, which is the argument from the loonies on the right.

What's working? I haven't seen anything that's working that we could keep. Unless you want to sit there and say that spending the most money for the least in return and spending to the point of 16% of GDP for the coverage of most what other comparable nations manage with 10% or less for the coverage of all is something that's working. Do you?

Put down the crack pipe, Bill. Another Conspiracy Theory of the Right Wing.

Progressive is a more accurate term for most Democrats. For example, laissez-faire economics is a liberal economic policy.

So, you are somewhat upset that Obama took the Government Option off the table. All you going to support the Progressive Coaliton in their promise not to vote for any healthcare legislation that does not include a strong Government Option modeled after the currently successful Medicare Program?

I watch Lou's show every night and I have yet to hear him praise single payer health care. He has wondered why no Obama sychophant official has examined single payer systems overseas and put together a plausible scenario of how it could or would work here, in comparison.

It sounds to me as if the author is grasping at straws, and because you don't watch the Lou Dobbs Show, Steven, instead, preferring to confine yourself to like-minded sources, you are once again showing your ignorance.

I have the last two weeks of Lou on DVR. I'll review and see if he has said any such thing, as yor source claims he has.

Your dittohead wasn't even really listening to his partner's report.

She explains that doctors in Denmark are public employees and then therefore can't be sued. Then Dobbs goes on to wonder if doctors in the US will also be protected from malpractice - if Obama and others are talking about THAT.

Duh - no Lou, they aren't. Because nobody on the Hill wants doctors to be public employees.

Oh and before you go off on that little tort-reform tangent, please pick which scenario you wish - doctors who are public employees with set salaries (and protected by their 'employer') or doctors who wish to remain 'self employed' (and therefore willing to take on their own level of risk).

It isn't off the table. I would have to look at what the final health care reform bill will be and look at the alternatives before I'd say I wouldn't support it, but in general, if the Democratic leaders endorse the bill, that will hold weight in whether I will support it or not. There has been talk of co-ops, which I admittedly know little about.

You do realize there are multiple coalitions within the Democratic party, and the bill(s) in (their)current form(s) are only supported by the leadership, not by the respective coalitions?

I don't belong to an organized political party; I'm a Democrat. --Will Rogers
