I am absolutely hooked on tomato soup...the ones with tomato chunks and onion. i always end up buying a small cup from the sandwich/soup shop at my building but they charge 4 bucks for a small size cup (6 bucks if you want to go bigger...16 oz). it's a rip-off, i know.

i've searched the web and can't really find one that would appeal to me (meaning something easy but not the ones in the can where you just heat and serve. hehe) i'm thinking of just experimenting but i'm not good in the kitchen either (my cooking assessment/level - i can make a good breakfast...bacon, eggs and pancakes...which is why i end up making myself breakfast for dinner.)

Fate is building a bridge of chance for the one you love...

Is that what they mean when they speak of POSSIBILITIES in their ads? :blink:

Dude, You have NO idea how many different things you can make with a can of cambell's soup... lol its great!

but i do agree.. cambell's tomato soup is great with milk and grilled cheese...

No recipe for tomato soup though, not really... what else is in the soup at your sandwich shop? any meat/other vegetables?

this recipe looks pretty good.. I"m guessing you can probably substitute diced tomatoes in a can for the tomatoes they ask for.. Good luck!

Not sure if this is the kinda thing you are looking for:-

Sweet and Chunky Tomato Soup

"This flavorful soup is a great treat any time of year! Its sweet and fresh taste redefines this typically average dish while chunks of tomatoes give it a hearty and filling appeal. Serve small portions with you favorite bread or roll."

Original recipe yield: 4 servings.

Prep Time:

15 Minutes

Cook Time:

30 Minutes

Ready In:

45 Minutes

Servings:

4 (change)

INGREDIENTS:

* 1/2 red bell pepper, diced

* 1/2 yellow bell pepper, diced

* 3/4 teaspoon butter, divided

* 8 tomatoes, peeled and sliced

* 1 medium onion, diced

* 2 cloves garlic, minced

* 2 cups chicken broth

* 2 teaspoons salt

* 1 teaspoon white sugar

* 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

* 1 1/2 teaspoons dried oregano

* 1 1/2 teaspoons dried basil

* 1 cup milk

* 1 tablespoon cornstarch

DIRECTIONS:

1. Place the red bell pepper and yellow bell pepper in a large pot with 1/4 teaspoon butter, and cook, stirring constantly, until peppers are slightly charred. Mix in tomatoes, onion, garlic, and chicken broth. Season with salt, sugar, cloves, oregano, and basil. Bring to a boil, and cook 20 minutes, until tomatoes are soft.

2. Mix the milk and cornstarch in a small saucepan, and stir until smooth. Place saucepan over medium heat, and stir in remaining 1/2 teaspoon butter. Continue to cook and stir until thickened. Mix into the pot with vegetables.

3. Strain about 1/2 the vegetables from the soup and transfer to a blender. Blend until smooth, and return to the pot. Bring soup to a boil, reduce heat to low, and simmer 5 minutes. Remove from heat, and let sit about 5 minutes before serving.

Note:

The easiest way to peel tomatoes is to blanch them first.

What I do with a can of Campbells tomato soup is this... I dump one can of tomato soup into a pot then add a can of milk and about a cup or so of grated cheese and oregano and basil to taste.... then you just heat it up till cheese is melted... This is sooo yummy :thumbs:
