I was born with ilocana-brown skin to fair-skinned (well, I mean fair-skinned pinoy) parents (my father is half-spanish mestizo). Never had a problem despite having 2 siblings whose complexion was fairer than mine. I have not really used any whitening products, except on some areas on my legs which were due to an immune-mediated syndrome. And that product was just some papaya soap with some medication included. The marks have lightened some but my brown color remains the same. I don't use any now; just some sunscreen when I stay out in the sun too long. Then again, I can't stay in the sun too long because I get really bad headaches. Hubby loves me as I am and adores my skin color. Nothing like a sweet, honey brown Filipina, eh? B)

Oh..my li'l girl has a nice golden brown complexion that has attracted a lot of attention, too... :star:

I love Ana's skin. And if she got darker that is perfectly ok with me. But I love her just the way she is. Her skin is perfect. I don't understand why they want to be whiter either. I noticed that most of the celebrities there are whiter, and models too. I don't get it.. I think the darker skin is beautiful, especially Ana.

I don't understand it too. When I was in still in the Philippines, I'm always the pale one. I tried hard to tan because I think it's really sexy. My skin just won't do it. My husband always make fun of me during summer that he's darker than me.

I agree completely. My beautiful wife has the most delightful brown skin and I love it!!

She has some scars on her legs that she is so embarrassed about but I just point out other women who also have some skin problems and she see's they are not worried.

I think its working as she was willing to go out this past weekend with shorts for the first time.

Although she did put Band-Aids over the 2 scars she is most worried about. Someday I hope she will understand that people don't care about that sort of thing.

I think she is beautiful no matter what!! :star:

Phil

I love Filipina color too it's just right brown but not black! I just don't understand too that my friends were so worried that they were dark when in fact, it really much appreciated here in the US.

Why is it that the only one who can stop the crying is the one who started it in the first place?

My wife hates the sun too. I try to tell her tan is good, but she does not accept that. She looks good to me, wish I was tanned.

This thread is too funny! And timely for us. Bing has been here 6 weeks and she wants to have an umbrella whenever we are in the sun - even if only for a couple of minutes. I explain that the sun is not as strong here (especially in Michigan) and that she has more pigment in her skin to protect her and I don't care how dark she gets but she just wants no part of the sun at all. When we were in Boracay last November she would only go in the water very early in the morning or at dusk.

Why do Filipinas think whiter skin is better? I wish Bing would get even darker.
