probably that stigma about it being more socially acceptable than darker skin....i blame that on european colonialism that set deep roots in the mindsets of their former subjects....

This is an understatement. Filipina's are outwardly prejudiced against other darker skinned Filipinas. The sale of skin whitening soaps and products is a multi-million dollar industry in the Philippines. Many filipinas have a strong fear of their skin getting dark.

Ditto for Thailand.

You won't see the foreigners automatically go for the lightest-skinned locals,

despite the local prejudice which is the same.

Haha! Wifey agrees with these. Though, I don't get it though. I think Filipinas are just perfect!

Claudeth has been complaining about getting a tan on her right arm from riding in the golf cart. I don't see any difference but she is up in arms about it.

This reminds me when I recently went golfing with my new socks on, and I got a hole in one!

My Sarie wanted to see a picture of my X wife so I sent her one...

Blonde, White as a ghost, Straight long hair... (And Dumb as a box of Rocks!)

I also explained to Sarie that if I was 'looking' for another 'Blonde' or a 'White' girl, I could simply walk across the street. 8600 miles for a 'White girl'??

She gave all of her skin whitening creams and lighteners to her sister at my request. NO hesitation there once I explained it to her. :star:

Hotdogs and Rice VS. Liquid Paper and ...

Easy choice! :star:

I was shocked when I first heard about "Whitening cream", and still to this day make fun of her for it. Se keeps wondering if we have it in the US.

American women want tan skin and curly hair.

Filipino Women want white skin and straight hair.

Oh well.

Advise her to have a naked sun bathing. Myself, I have huge tan lines on my legs because I worn short pants when I had sun bathing so its looks like I worn a stocking, . After two weeks, its gone. I'm still tan..I have nice skin tone. Syndrome bleach is a problem of most Filipinos. :bonk:

My wife is light brown. She has some soap that is supposed to make you whiter. I do not see the point. she gets upset if she get some tan.

Her son is darker skin. If he went out every day in the sun he will be really dark. So before they went back to the Philippines, she would not let him go swimming. I question her about that defending him, why not come on, that is a crazy reason cause he will be dark. So I bet when he comes back he will be dark so there goes her reason.

I think it is embedded into all Pinay Genes.

My daughter is a copper tone baby. However, I was in Las Vegas for one week holiday. I stayed in hotel where so many Caucasians than other ethnic groups. They sun bathing all day long. Anyway, I took my daughter in the pool but didn't swim, just watch her while I'm in shaded areas(if I exposed too much in the sun, I get nose bleed. On the other hand, I shown my SPF lotion to my husband while we were in the hotel room."You don't need SPF,you have 3000 SPF on you," he said.

My wife just laughed at her filipina friend who exclaimed,"Your getting darker!" Meryll just told her it was a tan from riding bicycles.
