After the hurricanes of 2004, I am still a little gun-shy of the "hurricane season" :(:unsure:

Well I certainly have appreciated the fact that it has been much quieter this year. At this time last year, we had TS Fay sitting on top of us.

why do i keep reading this thread with ts = transsexual?

I can't wait for my husband to experience his first hurricane. :D

I wonder how the first hurricane compares to first earthquake. No warning about earthquakes, and by the time you figure it out, it's over. But a hurricane, there is the build up of not knowing what to expect, and either it gets you, or it doesn't. Plenty of time to think about it. I have been through lots of storms, and it's more of an adventure, more than anything, even after it passes, and you get time to see the destruction left behind, same as an earthquake. It's hard to realize everyone's loss, if you survived, and didn't lose your home.

I know what you mean. I live in New Orleans and we are all nervous around here. Trying to figure out where to evacuate this year. Last year for Gustav, I decided to evacuate to the central part of the state…a very bad idea for that hurricane. I hope we don't see a hurricane this year.

Waiting.....Waiting....waiting....waiting....and more waiting..........

Heh, yeah. I'm from Florida, even went through Andrew, among numerous others. However, in all the years I've lived in the PNW - no earthquakes!
