Has anyone POE Blue Water Bridge activating any kind of visa?

What kind of experience did you have?

Or has anyone crossed there to enter the states for vacation or anything?

I will be activating my K-1 there and im curious as to other peoples experiences, I looked at the POE link and only one person has posted there back from 2007 I think it was. So not much help for recent crossings! there was also not much information from the person. Crossing with a truck and car on tow behind it, and my puppy whos all up-to-date on shots and healthy with all his paperwork.

I havn't cross there but I do know that sometimes people don't list their crossing by the actual place they just put USA/CAN border heading. Maybe if you went through those you might find some reviews.

I crossed at the Blue Water Bridge in 2004 - not recent but I can say that my experience there was really easy. It is one of the busiest land POE for the US - especially commercial traffic - and the immigration staff are knowledgeable and courteous. I tried to list it for my review but it wasn't listed as one of the available options on the pull down menu - the closest was Detroit - so I listed it under Detroit and gave the correct information there.

We had a minivan full of my belongings which included houseplants and six cats. I had all of the necessary documentation for the plants and the cats but they never even looked at them - weren't interested at all. If you have the necessary documentation you should be fine - it will probably be a non-issue for you as well. You should have your compliance letter for the car but I will let someone who has imported a car advise you about that.

I don't think you should have a problem at all just due to the size and business of the POE. They knew exactly what the K-1 was and processed it in a timely way and cautioned me to make sure I did not leave the US without having either my green card or my AP. The Immigration Officer said it was one of the hardest parts of his duty to turn back Canadians who had left the US without obtaining the proper documentation before they left.

Good luck!

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

yea I have a compliance letter for my car already so thats all done, and I wont be leaving america anytime soon lol, probably wont be back to canada for 2-3 years at the least! already looking at AOS things too so im familiar with what will need to get done a bit when I get there to make sure I get apropriate papers an documentation for the marriage and such. Didnt realize that BWB was the most used POE but its good that they are very knowledgable. did they make you get out of the car and stuff? I dont want to leave my dog in the truck so I dont know if i can bring him in if they make me go inside to fill anything out.

You will arrive at the border and declare that you are entering using your K-1 visa. They will direct you to secondary inspection. Yes, you will have to get out of the car and leave your keys in the car. You will have to leave the dog in the car as well, although you can certainly ask them if you can bring him in. We had to leave all the cats in their carriers in the van and yes, it bothered me as well. When you get inside you will go up to the counter, hand over your passport with the visa and the brown envelope. They will open the envelope, inspect the contents, fingerprint you, then place an I-94 card (entrance-exit visa) in your passport. They will write the date 90 days in the future on it and on a stamp in your passport as well on the page opposite the K-1. That is the date by which you need to get married. They will also charge you $6 (I believe it is still that amount) for the I-94 as well. They will keep the brown envelope and its contents and forward it to the USCIS office responsible for the area to which you are moving. It should take about half an hour in all, although if you have to wait because there are other people waiting, it might take longer.

Hope that helps.

yea, just that my dog doesnt do well on his own in the car he crys and freaks out, also sometimes pees in retaliation for being left behind lol rather him not pee in the rented truck! haha. Hes really small tho, just a lil bigger than a chihuahua. He also over heats very quickly another reason why i dont want to leave him in the car.

I have extra USD cash on me just incase they ask for it like the 6$ or whatever they charge. Probably going to cross at night time so hopefully less people cus the 30min sounds nice lol

We did cross there... June 22, to be exact. Things went REALLY well! :) I posted a review... but here it is again. Best of luck to you!

*******

We crossed over the border from Sarnia, ON to Port Huron, MI.

We stood in line for about 20 minutes and we finally called to the next awaiting CBP officer. He was quite nice, but was unsure of what to do. He called another officer over (she was AWESOME) and she stepped him through the process.

We were there at the counter for about 45 minutes, but no biggie! Everything was in order, everything went well and they officers were nice, polite, professional, funny, and most of all, friendly!

It was a simple and easy process!

Event Date

ROC

9/28/11 - Check cashed

10/1/11 - NOA1 arrived in mail

3/19/12 - RFE

5/3/12 - RoC APPROVED!!!
