Hi everybody,

I am preparing my package and I have a question about the supporting evidences. Do I have to send the originals or copies of the transcripts of tax returns?

10/06/08: Sent I-751

10/21/08: Received NOA

11/13/08: Received Biometrics Letter

11/24/08: Biometrics done in Jacksonville, FL

03/20/09: Case Transferred from VSC to CSC

05/20/09: Received Approval Letter

...Waiting for the card...

07/09/09: Green Card Received

10/01/09: Eligible for Citizenship

8/03/10: Sent N-400 paperwork

9/08/10: Biometrics done

9/26/10: Received Interview letter

10/28/10: Passed interview

Waiting for the Oath ceremony letter =)

We sent original transcripts because we only obtained the transcripts specifically for the citizenship application, and would never use them or need them for anything else.

But I think it would be totally fine to send copies and then bring the originals to the interview. Generally speaking, the only thing you must send in the original format is the N-400 form itself (and the passport photos of course), anything else you can choose to send copies and bring originals to the interview.

I sent the originals of the tax transcripts as well for exactly the same reason. I did make a copy to keep at home just in case they were needed.

I had always sent the originals for the same reason as well, but when they talk about bringing evidence to the interview, and wanting originals, I decided to send copies so we can take the originals to the interview.

I'm confused... who are you asking the question to? As for me... THIS TIME I sent in copies, so I had the originals to take in.
