i just came back from vietnam for the second time. i've completed all paperwork i need to do in vietnam including interviews and such. i have a marriage certif. that they gave me which i need to get it translated. hopefully somewhere free or cheap haha!!. i would like to ask some questions because i am starting to began work on my cr-1.

everything seems so overwhelming when you have no idea what to do. everyone in here is super helpful because it seems you all have to go through this nightmare. at least that's what i am guessing it will turn out to be because when i was in vietnam it was a nightmare with all the paperwork we had to do. some of those people can be so rude. especially in ho chi minh city. anyways my questsions are:

1) how much does it cost for the application? - i am guessing im paying for the i-130.

2) on the guide it says "Should include a description of what your are petitioning for (I-130)" - should i write a paragraph? can someone show me an example?

5/18/2008 - Went to Vietnam for first time with brother

5/25/2008 - Cousin intro Tu, asked for number, began relationship, many phone calls, letters, emails

6/20/2009 - Went to Vietnam for sec time with dad

7/27/2009 - Dam Hoi, received marriage certificate, went to many places for vacation

6/4/2010 - Vietnam for third time with mother

6/19/2010 - Got married, went to many places for vacation

7/3/2010 - Mail out I-130

Good luck! I just sent mine off. The first fee for the I-130 is $355.00. There's an example of a cover letter above under "Example Forms." Scroll down to the I-751 (even though that isn't your form) and the attachment is there.

Our timeline:

2/88: We met in Sydney, Australia at a youth hostel! He's Finnish, I'm American-both were in our early 20s at the time and fresh out of college (so couldn't afford to visit each other's countries after that!). We had a three-day romance, then went our separate ways. He actually was going to Sydney a week later, but decided at the last minute to cut his trip short in another country and go early. Wow.

1988-1998: Wrote "snail mail" letters/sent Xmas cards, but lived our separate lives. I married someone else, divorced in 2006...he lived with someone for years and then that ended.

10/08: Because of a series of random life events, I Googled my Finn Man and found him (but no link to his email, and the website his name was on was in Estonian so I couldn't even read it!). It took me two weeks to find a link to someone else, who forwarded my email to him (we were both single at the time thankfully!!!!). The email went to his spam folder but he happened to check it that day and responded back to me immediately! This was after 10 years of no contact and almost 21 years of not seeing each other after we first met.

11/08-5/09: We traveled back and forth to visit each other. Love at first (second?) sight!

7/09: Married in Helsinki, Finland...after meeting randomly 21 1/2 years ago and finding each other again!!!!!

8/13/09: I-130 sent!!!!!!!!!

Rest is on my timeline!

i have another question about a section in the guide http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...page=i130guide1 in the Evidence of a bonafide marriage part. are receipts from letters i've sent to my wife, who is in vietnam, adequate? i also have monthly phone bills that shows the numbers i've called.

Those are secondary evidence, focus on things like boarding passes, passport stamps, hotel/car receipts from Vietnam - things that show you've spend considerable time with your wife. Then go with pictures and e-mails, letters and phone logs.

Good luck.
