I would invest and travel around the world with my children, trying to help those in need....and live a simple life. Maybe once every six months we would take a good vacation.

The rest of my life would be a vacation :dance:

A life-long vacation? But then that begs a question like asking, "Just where does the Forest Ranger go to 'get away from it all'"? What would you do for an encore then?

I've talked to Luis about these lottery dreams. Ours would be paying off his College Debt, helping his family (pay off their debts, remodel their house, etc) and then we'd buy a house in Arraial do Cabo, Brasil, travel around the world in the first year, then settle down, invest some, and most likely I'd go into studying something of interest to me 'cus doing nothing all the time is boring and tiresome.

Getting back to reality, if I did win the 200 million buck power ball, would be lucky to be able to purchase this:

HU-16_1278-crash-tail.jpg

You only get that $200,000,000 if you opt for a buck a year for the next 200 million years, if you take it in one lump sum, just get a fraction of that. Then there is the federal and state IRS demanding their share of it, probably end up owing them money.

Can also stand in the middle of a farm field on a clear day, odds of getting hit by lightning are far greater than winning the lottery. And that way, would get a nice charge out of that.

You probably get about 1/4 of the winnings if you take the cash option. Had anybody hit the Powerball last night, that would have been a cool $50 million. I think I could trot around the globe AND do a lot of people a lot of good with that.

But......since nobody hit, then we can all dream again till Wednesday. Sure the odds are slim. About fifty of us play at work - a hundred tickets or so. We maybe come out of that pot with $10 or $15 bucks so it's pretty clear just how impossible it all is. But that's OK. Everybody's gotta believe in somethin' - I believe in the Lottery... :P

I think I would have to hire a relaxation and amusement consultant to advise me on that.

I was amused when I first learned about poetic license, a mild form of exaggeration to make a point. Well in this case, perhaps not quite so mild.

Then I can resort to a religious point of view, God is doing me a favor by not winning, all that money would cost me my soul.

Then the reality of all this, with both my wife and I working, all the bills paid off, we end up using our extra money to buy problems and that is all you can buy they way they are making ####### today.

With traveling the way the world is today, we are risking our lives each time we board a plane.

Just some means to console oneself for reasons why it may be good, not to win the lottery. But we still like to dream.

Good answer! And BTW, I heard of a national poll that asked what percentage of big lottery winners continue to be married afterward, and that number is 95%.

hehehe, but then you would have to worry about pirates . . . :)

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

I'd continue working to finish the project I'm on but after that, I'd ask to take a long leave of absence.

I'd buy a big house or building that would be large enough to accommodate relatives and friends should they ever need a place to live for awhile, but I'd have it designed into separate areas, with large common areas so everyone can gather when needed.

After taking a leave of absence, I'd buy a small camper van and drive all over this great country, meet different people.

I'd set up a grant program for relatives and friends, where they could request money. I'd have a trust fund that would be managed so that it would never run dry. Relatives and friends would have to understand that there's simply not enough to give everyone a lot of money, so the grants would be distributed based on their circumstances and needs.

If there was any money left, I'd like to buy some farm land and find some families that would like to live and work on the farm.

Would I be eligible to tap that grant program too?

You sure could, Spooks! Being that you are one of my homies here on VJ.

Thanks, much appreciated. Please PM me when you win.

Just brush up on your grant writing skills - asking me for ten grand for a wild sex party with prostitutes isn't going to cut it.

change my name and disappear. I ain't sharing lol jk

If you win the lottery, what would you do? - I'd move to brazil, live by the beach in a house with my own gym, swimming pool, very well decorated by me without carpets :P i'd travel to as many countries as possible

Would you quit your job right away? definitely

Would you continue your job, because you like your colleagues and the money is not the main reason you work there? hel! no

Would you start you own business and fullfill your dream of something you always wanted to do? i'd start my own business, maybe invest in apartments to rent

Or buy houses all over the world and travel? Or just one big house and settle down? the house wouldné be that big. should be cosy. travel for sure. never spend more than a cmonth home

Would you buy lots of fancy cars, a yacht and a private plane? Would you donate to charit - a convertible, a truck and an SUV. not much of a sea person. no private plane. depending on the amount i would donate, something related to health in brazil. i'd also give some to my 2 best friends in brazil, my mom, dad and brother. not cash for them to spend, but something that would relieve them financially.
