Can a green card holder do Affidavit of Support for there brother and sister in overseas?? Someone told me here that it can't until you became an American Citizen...please help me guys

As an LPR you can be a sponsor for an I-134 or I-864 affidavit of support.

Are you asking if you can petition for a visa? Once you become a USC you can file a visa petition for brothers and sisters.

I mean....I would like my sister in India to Visit USA for a short period...and I have my 10 yrs green card and married to US citizen. I don't want the petition thing coz it would take 14 yrs of time. Just need to know can I send Affidavit of Support (financial) for my sister to visit us for 2 weeks. Or i have to wait to get US citizenship than to file any certain papers...???? thanks once again

It seems that you are inquiring about visitor visas for your siblings. While you can file form I-134 as evidence of how their trip may be financed, it may actually work against them for visitor visas because I assume your siblings are young or of working age. Form I-134 works better for older folks who have strong ties to their home country and are not likely to become illegal aliens in the US. Young people and those of working age are more likely to become illegal aliens than older folks.

To obtain a visitor visa, a foreign person must qualify for one on his/her own by showing ties to the foreign home and overcome the burden the assumption that the person intends to illegally immigrate to the US. There is nolthing that a relative in the US can do to help.
