Hi folks, I am super lost with this whole immigration process. I would love, love, love some advice from all of you lovely people. My hubby and I are in that young, dumb and in love phase in our life , so we jump into love and marriage hearts first and did absolutely no planning before we got married. We figured: Hey, were in love, were good people, that should be enough. Reading through this site has caused me to think otherwise. I realised that we have so many issues that might hold us back. I'll list some big ones that we can't find easy answers to. If anyone has any advice on any issues, I would be eternally grateful (might even name my first born after some one. :innocent: LOL)

Issue #1: My hubby is a Nigerian going to school in the Philippines. Has anyone had any experiences dealing with a 'third party' country throughout their visa journey? Does it have any advantages or disadvantages we should be aware of?

Issue#2: My dad is a Nigerian national too. Will this help our case at all?

Issue#3: We met on the net and had a very short courtship. We know about the conventional bona fida evidence already, but are there any other unconventional evidence we can provide? Are we being too naive thinking that our love and good standing will get use through the process without a lot of evidence?

Issue#4: My hubby's father was a horrible person, so he and his siblings decided to take their mother's maiden name and claim their grandfather as their father on forms and such. On our marriage certificate it list his grandfather as the father. I know how black and white our government is, so should we list his actual father as the father on the forms? Should we try and get the marriage certificate to list the actual fathers name? Or just explain the circumstances in a statement alongs with our paperwork?

Peace and thank to everyone for your advice in advance! :D

Q1. hubby will be interviewed in Nigeria.

Q2. no help does, not matter.

Q3. you will need evidence of genuine relationship.

Q4. LYING ON ANY FORMS WILL RESULT IN A LIFETIME BAN!

:guides:

LOL. Where did you see anywhere in that question about lying? I asked what was the best way to correct it. And i know for a fact that they will do the interview in the Philippines. Please I really need factual info, it you don't know or want to bring negativity please don't post. Thanks though

Yes, you can and probably should have your interview in the Philippines. I understand that Nigeria is a notoriously difficult consulate.

You will need more evidence of bona fides. Start documenting every call, email, etc. Visit as often as you can afford. If you can afford it, move to the Philippines for a year and file DCF after six months. That would give you six months of real evidence and DCF is faster and seems to be easier.

I don't think your father's background will help, but who knows. It might make someone think that it is reasonable you would be attracted to a Nigerian and so they might give your relationship just that much more credence.

Just attach an explanation about why your husband's grandfather is listed as his father.

Not too many people on here have dealt with a third country cconsulate, but I know it happens all the time. I met my husband in China, but my friends there who had been through the process said it took them over two years to get their interviews, and when we finally decided to move to the US, we didn't want to stay in China another two years. Bad information and probably a bad decision on our parts.

Anyway, good luck.

Her husband wil be interviewed in the Philipines....that's where they married and that is where he has been going to school.

Your marriage certificate can be amended with the office in which it was filed and a new one issued to reflect the fathers name who appears on the birth certificate. All other forms the father should be listed as the person who appears on the birth certificate.

Your fathers Nigerian background is not relevant to your case.

By the way we are going through third party country.....Italy, and it will be an easier process for us at the Naples consulate than in Lagos. I can't say the same is true for the consulate in the Phils.

Hello

When I met my hubby..we were dating and he was a nigerian going to school in The Netherlands. I visited him afew times and then we filed for the fiancee visa and he had his interview in The Netherlands...after he was approved, he came straight to the USA...as long as your SO has a valid student visa for the country he is going to school at...everything should be good. We filed for the fiancee visa in June of 2006 and he had his interview in Jan of 2007. I wish I could answer your other questions, but I am really not sure of the answers. I wish you the best on your journey and I also wish you and your SO a lifetime of happiness :)

To Blessed to be stressed:) I realize that all things have a purpose and a time.....have faith and the Lord Almighty will provide... when the time is right, he NEVER fails!
