AOS Interview Really Fast

Hi all,

I am in the Baltimore Service Center area, AOS package was received by USCIS on May 26th. I just received a notice for "REQUEST FOR APPLICANT TO APPEAR FOR INITIAL INTERVIEW" on July 5th, with the interview being Aug 23rd.

Is this the interview for the AOS approval? "INITIAL" kind of confuses me. This is only strange because the processing times for Baltimore District office for the i-485 are supposed to be about 7 months.

2nd question, they just happened to pick a bad date ( My wife is adjusting status however I have a planned, bought, and paid for business trip scheduled the week of the interview). Would they be willing to reschedule? or does it have to deal with life and limb?

USCIS has been on a roll lately (it seems) . You can send back to them to re-schedule, but in so doing, be prepared to wait a long time for another date (maybe 6 months or more), as your file will be shoved all the way to the back. It would be worth it paying the $100 (or so) penalty to have your flight changed. My opinion.... . All the best with whatever you decide.

That is super fast. I wouldn't change the interview date.
