Fee Waiver anyone?

Funds are tight right now for us - I'm collecting unemployment and my hubby is working at a restaurant and not making a lot. I'm thinking about filing for the fee waiver, but I'm afraid that would hurt his immigration status, since the K1 visa had all that ####### about financially supporting your spouse, etc.

Has anyone else filed the fee waiver? $600 is a big chunk of money right now!

i doubt it hurts to file, they can only say no and then pay for it, at the end atleast u tried,

Be prepared to suck it up and pay the fee. In this economy, at least the two of you have income -- others don't. They are the ones who might qualify for waivers. The government is already broke, so it needs that six hundred bucks....just kidding

I read of a few cases here on VJ of people who tried to get a fee waiver but no one has been approved for it so far. Very, very strict requirements. I suggest just sending in the fee and putting other expenses on credit cards if necessary, or getting loans from friends. It's not worth the undue attention and delay to a VERY important step in the immigration progress.

These fees are a big chunk of money for most of us (especially if multiply family members are involved). Funds are tight for a lot of people but these are the choices we made when we started this long and expensive process to be with our loved ones. Good luck though!

I've been on immigration forums for over 5 years and have yet to see anyone post they got their fees waivered.

Maybe they don't post!
