What if you end up with excellent IV sedatives without your knowledge? I realize we're moving into philosophy here...

If I wheeled an unconscious person into Best Buy and tried to buy a flat screen TV using his card, do you think they'd let me?

This is one big reform we need in America. If you're not conscious and/or have not designated a healthcare power of attorney, you should get no healthcare.

What if you're really drunk but you're one of those people who don't seem drunk?

Actually, they probably would. At least the Best Buy here. They're f*cking morons.

If you can not provide consent and your designated health care proxy is not available, you should not receive any services other than those that are free (i.e. naturally occurring things like air).

Then we clearly need department store reform.

I just said that it was expensive, that's all. Take a chill pill.

Fine.

Hopefully, you understand that you should not accept any medical service that you can't pay for. It's called being a responsible and good American.

This is what I don't understand though. So, what is an American citizen meant to do if he/she has a life threatening condition or has had a serious car accident? Just take a pain killer coz that's all they can afford? It seems inhumane that a country as rich as the US would allow it to happen.

Just seems like the rich like things the way they are & stuff the poorer people. Very sad.

It would be irresponsible of the American to accept services he/she can not afford. You know, this may be a difficult concept for a Euro to understand but it isn't all about you. With you people it's always me, me, me. What do I get? What can I have?

The attitude is sickening.

If you get in a car crash and can't afford to be cared for, then you get exactly what you deserve.

Are these the same brits that subsidize a royal family that do nothing but travel the world and do nothing but sit on their a$$es?

You have a nasty attitude. To allow someone to suffer is wrong, whether they can afford it or not! The whole point of having an NHS service is that EVERYONE pays into it, so it isn't about what I can get for free!

Let me tell you something, Euro.

When you get cared for, that's actual people spending actual time, providing you with a service that costs them money.

If you can't compensate them fairly, you have no business accepting their care.

If you do anyway, you are nothing more than a petty thief.

Were it up to me, the uninsured would be JAILED if they attempted to seek care.

ROFL Get over yourself. In the NHS I paid far more for medical stuff then here (healthy 27 year old) but at least I knew I'd get care no matter what and that the poor woman down the street wasn't going to go bankrupt over standard care. I'm glad my money was helping the less fortunate.

You mean the less responsible.

Fact: In America, the hard-working and responsible already have health care!

The only people this Euro-inspired "reform" will help are the shiftless and indigent, the irresponsible and the unskilled useless.
