Congradulations! We got approved on Aug 10 for Yuri's green card too  but my post about the interview seems to have evaporated into thin air !

Our interview was fast and easy. Said the oath and as soon as we sat down the officer ripped the I-94 out of Yuri's passport and X'd out the K3 visa. At that point I knew he'd been approved before we even got there. Next came the questions which were only going down the biographics pages (our names, birthdates, places of birth etc) then the standard "root out the Commie/Nazi terrorists" questions. I did all the translating for Yuri who was baffeled by such questions as "Have you ever pretended to be an American so as to obtain benefits? and "Have you ever voted in an American election?" After I said the literal translation he gave me such a confused look that I just told him to go ahead and say "No" and I'd explain later

The officer then typed into her computer and handed us a printed "Congradulations" letter with a red stamp on it then said "Welcome to America!"

We were done so fast we had the rest of the day to celebrate!!!

Brad & Vika,

Congratulations on getting the conditional green card. Check out the evidence they expect when you apply for permanent status so you will be prepared. The time goes rather quickly.

Love the new photos. It looks like Vika is adapting to her new life and husband quite well.

As of:

June 26, 2012 - The Hubbs received his 10-year Permanent Residency Card (aka THE Greencard) in the mail today!

At long last, this highly stressful leg of our journey has come to a close - for now - and we couldn't be more grateful and appreciative for all the tremendous help and support here on VJ! Without VisaJourney I doubt we would be where my husband and I are today! Thanks to all!

Best of luck to you both! Vika and I are sure you will do well.

thanks! all went well-

green card in 10-14 days! the interview was quick and easy. we didn't wait more than 3 min to be called in by the interviewer. he asked my husband his name, bday, etc. then he asked how we met, when we married, where we work, and to see pics of the wedding. he didn't take any I-864s or supporting documents. the only papers he took from us were photo IDs and birth cert.

Sounds pretty easy, amburger. A little too easy, actually. I'm on my way to file discrimination charges in the morning.

At the interview, the officer called me back first. He asked open ended questions about how we met, and how our relationship developed for about five minutes. Then he brought Vika back and asked the same things to see if our stories matched. He then told us the green card was approved, and told Vika to immediately destroy the AP and EAD documents when the green card arrives, as it is illegal to have both (EAD being a non-immigrant document, and GC being based on immigrant status). Vika was told that under no circumstances was she allowed to vote (duh), and that she should take care not to let the DMV register her when she gets her license, as this is a deportable offence and no waiver or appeal is possible. Then he warned us about the deadline for lifting conditions, and let us go. Total of maybe 15 minutes.

We had never heard about the voting issue, or the need to get rid of the EAD and AP documents. Wanted to pass it along.

Congrats and thanks for the info. My card was ordered Aug. 17, 2009 and I received it 7 days later.

Weird, we still don't have the card. Approval was given verbally on the 13th, and we have seen several notices from USCIS since.
