Do we need them?

My fiancee and I are getting ever so closer to our first meeting. I was reading on one of the visa sites where you pay for a guaranteed successful visa acceptance that all the evidence that I was thinking one would use to "prove" a meeting was wrong (of course, they will tell you what you should do for a fee). I was thinking of course, photos with newspapers held in hand to time stamp them, receipts from flights, hotels and restaurants as well as a copy of my passport (I live in the U.S. and she lives in Dubai). According to them, all this can be faked (cant anything be?) and there are sure fire things one can do to overcome this. What do you suggest we do? Is there things I am overlooking that can be done to "prove" that we have met? Thank you and forgive me for not reading all the guidlines yet, life is busy.

Also, is there a way here in visajourney to add another email address so my finacee can get notifications too? Thank you.

Photos together... boarding passes... passport stamp... and in your case a visa stamp since Dubai will issue you one of those also...

read the guides.. they are most helpful.

Good luck

Your photos do not need newspapers, timestamps of the eiffle tower. A photo of the two of you together will do. 3-4 photos is better. Phoos are secondary evidence anyway. Primary evidence includes passport stamps, boarding passes, receipts from hotels. Anyone who says other wise is either...

1. Ignorant

2. Lying to you

If it is any kind of agency or attorney offering you a service for a fee and they are either

1. Ignorant

2. Lying to you

then RUN in the other direction as fast as possible.

They will tell you anything to make you think they are NEEDED. All you need to save is ANYTHING you pay for, your tickets and boarding passes, copy of you passport and the stamp from when you enter and exit the country, buy something in shop if you have a layover in another country that will show on your tickets. Take pictures they help but they are only secondary evidence as the timestamps can be photoshopped. Get picture when u arrive in airport in front of arrival departure signs that show dates.

Have her make an account on VJ also if she want to get read this stuff, can't really add any other email addresses for your account.

Primary evidence of meeting in person is boarding passes and passport stamps. USCIS accepts that if the USC petitioner has evidence of being in the same country as the beneficiary (or the reverse) that's evidence of meeting in person. Photographs are secondary evidence.

Whether you would be wise to "do it yourself" or not depends on many factors but don't hire anybody who already lied to you.

I totally agree with the posts.....no need for newspapers......we got by with less. I misplaced my boarding passes but made up with plenty of pics....but then again ......we walked in with a baby and his birth certificate.......so maybe not exactly the same situation

Yes, if you pay them they can guarantee that the evidence you listed will be accepted.

Tell you what, if you pay me half of what they charge, I will personally guarantee it will be accepted

Catch my drift. Your evidence is all that everyone else, including me, sent and all went fine.

What do you get if they fail to deliver on their guarantee? Do you get your money back?

They aren't privy to any inside secrets, so their odds of getting an approval are no better than any well informed person's. The overwhelming majority of people who can read and follow directions are approved, so I doubt that service is losing much in refunds.

Bear in mind that any evidence you send with your petition is eventually going to be seen by a consular officer in the UAE. Photos with newspapers to prove the date look like they should come with a ransom note, and obviously staged. This might work with USCIS, but to a consular officer it would probably look more like 'marriage for green card'. Photos are secondary evidence to help demonstrate you've actually met. Choose photos that show a happy couple enjoying each others' company. Boarding passes, passport stamps, and receipts bearing your name prove the dates you were there.

One of the things we did was to get our letters of intent notarized at the US consulate in Ho Chi Minh city. The letters of intent don't need to be notarized, but having them notarized at the consulate proves we were both together on that date, and the proof comes from an agency of the US government. It also gave my fiancee a chance to go inside the consulate and see what it was like. Hopefully, she'll be a little less nervous when she has to go back for her interview. Since you're going to be in Dubai, where the US consulate is located, you might consider something like this.

12/15/2009 - K1 Visa Interview - APPROVED!

12/29/2009 - Married in Oakland, CA!

08/18/2010 - AOS Interview - APPROVED!

05/01/2013 - Removal of Conditions - APPROVED!
