Advanced Parole evidence

Hi,

I am on a J1 visa living in the US. I recently got married in a rush (very Ill parent) to a US citizen, and am just discovering the consequences for my visa!

Anyhow, I am applying for an AOS to green card, and would like to apply for an I-131 Application for Travel. Looking through the options, and reading other posts, It seems I would be applying for Advanced Parole. However, having read the instructions - it says that Advanced parole is an extraordinary measure used for a compelling emergency.

I would like to travel freely whilst I wait for the green card. I was wondering if this is the right category, and if so, what people use as " an explanation or other evidence that warrant issuance of an advanced parole document"

Thank you so much for your help,

James

AP doesn't have to be for emergency reasons - can be for virtually any reason. That said - traveling on AP could have consequences if you're adjusting status and have any overstay on your visa (I don't know that to be the case for you, but something to be aware of).
