I'm a bit confused over this post. They do international text messaging and you can opt for the per-text billing..... I think it's 35 cents per message or something. I don't recall there being a restriction on non-domestic texts. Maybe that's a new thing.

Okay, there's an international texting package that you pay $9.99 for, and it gives you 100 text messages. With this package, you're paying roughly $0.09 a text message to Canada. Without the package, you pay $0.25 a text message, but there isn't a restriction. Should you get the package, every text past 100 will charge the standard $0.25 rate. There's no restriction on the number of texts, in general, just on how many you can get for the cheaper rate if you get the package. Does that make any sense?

That's why I just use the program I recommended with my iPhone. However, I know that not everyone has one, so the package is an option if you're willing to spend the extra cash.

You'd think they'd allow some type of unlimited international texting package... :( I keep hoping they will someday, since my fiance texts all of his friends, and he'll likely just be added to my package when he moves down here. Silly AT&T...

Canada to US isn't considered international on any provider in the US and Canada that I have seen. I used Bell in Canada and he had verizon in the US and all txts were included on both our plans as part of the unlimited txt msging. Telus doesn't charge extra either....nor does At&t. I don't think any of them do.

Both AT&T and Verizon consider calls and texts to Canada "international", or at least they bill you that way.

You're definitely right about Canada --> to the US. No Canadian provider charges international texting.

But I think certain US companies charge it. T-Mobile doesn't, that's what I have and I can text all I want to Canada.

I don't have long distance on my cell phone, but I have a BB and unlimited data, so I BBM and text with most of my friends and when we talk on the phone, I just buy a $4 phone card at the bodega that lasts me over 8 hours in talk time. Or, I can just call people from work since we are allowed to use long distance here whenever we want. Can't really beat that. My Mom works for Bell in Canada, so she just calls me since she has a sweet long distance plan.

If I had to call Canada more often, I'd totally get Verizon.

That they do. It's like the only thing I hate about having AT&T :( Everything else has been so wonderful!

METRO PCS is the best way to go. I get free messaging and even picture messaging and believe me i text ALOT, and now they added a unlimited call anywhere around the world for 5 bucks more. Honestly this is a extremely good deal, specially when you call or text alot. I know is kind of you new company but for 50 bucks totalk plus 5 more for the talk plan, so yeah you should go ask or find out about that.

My fiance also has the VERIZON plan. It's approximately what other people are paying, something like 100$ a month which isn't cheap but also factor in that he sends me approximately 1200 texts a month....YES, 1200. I know its ridiculous but true. Our friends make fun of us constantly.

My husband sends me 5000 texts a month...YES, 5000. And yes, it is ridiculous, but also alot of fun.

I love being a Canadian.
