Visa Interview was Today

My husband's CR-1 interview was today. It went well, pretty much as everyone else had said per reviews & posts. Arrived at 7:45, got the letter A, allowed for some time between window visits for fingerprinting. Went to the closet room, answered a few questions. However, I am kind of concerned because of a few reasons. 1) The woman in the closet room never SPECIFICALLY said they approved him, they just said "it's all good." 2) They didn't give us a "Welcome to the US" letter that other people have been getting. However, when we gave them the envelope, they told us about the Visa package and not to open it until we get to the border.

Guess I'm trying to just confirm that he WAS approved & that I'm being worried for no apparent reason.

Also, why are some Visas mailed out and some given out? From what I've seen, it looks like K1s are given while CR-1/IR-1s and K3s are mailed?

for montreal 99% are mailed out--k1, k3 and cr-1(ir-1) some ask and get lucky and able to get them that day or next day!! Few yrs back at Mtl, you were able to get them the same day, but that changed!

I never got a welcome to the USA letter at montreal----that came in the mail about a month after I entered the USA.

That package ur not to open, wil be mailed to you , in the express post envelope that u provided them. The "visa" is in ur Cdn passport, which of course you can take out and look at. The other stuff, in which u cant open, is ful of paperwork that u hand over to the POE official.

Sounds like you were all approved, it isnt a overly dramatic occasion, lol congrats

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Sounds to me like he was approved.

It's not only K1's that are sometimes ready for pick up the next day, they offered to let my Husband pick his up. Just depends on the officer doing the interview and their workload I think.

As flames said, the welcome letter is mailed to you in the U.S., not given at the interview.

Congratulations!

my k-1 was not given out mine was mailed, the guy at montreal said they do not offer any pick up of visas what-so-ever and they only mail them out.

The other part of the question it kind of sounds like he was approved but that is kind of weird they didnt give him the letter or anything. Did they keep his passport?

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

Yes, they kept his passport. I guess no driving through Maine to get to Newfoundland, huh? (Wasn't planning on doing that anyway... But we are going on an awesome road trip back to his place!)

nice trip mines going to be 3 days long lol maine is amazing. well if they kept his passport then you pretty much know hes going to get the visa! they have to keep it to put the visa in it and then they mail it back to you !~ you should be good as gold unless you get a letter asking for more papers or something just keep an eye on the mail!

Sounds like we had the same person. We were never told specifically "You are approved" or given a letter either but it was all OK. If there were any issues they would have clearly told you. Congratulations!
