Hi,

I will be filng for N400 next year and I have an arrest record, a conviction for disorderly conduct.

I know i have to provide a "certified copy of the arrest report";

I contacted the NYC police department and they responded that the FOIL department - in charge of documents and records - take months to process archives requests. They also deny some of the requests.

I still have 13 months to go before applying but now Im getting worried if I will not be able to provide this arrest report; in addition it seems that communicating with Police departments to be very hard, no email available, phone ringing but no one in the office,,,,,,,,,:

what can I explain to the IO if I wont be able to provide such a document?

Should I request from the NYPD an explanation letter in case they dont want to provide this arrest report?

Pls advice;

Thank you

I think an attorney can get it very fast, but you would have to pay. Good luck.

We have a similar issue, and the Clerk of Courts (in Miami) was where we mailed in for both the court disposition and arrest affidavit. Getting someone on the phone there to tell us how much the check should be for and the mailing address was a pain, and took forever, but the forms arrived in about a week.

Maybe your Clerk of Courts could help? There has to be some way to get these documents quickly, I'm sure many people need them all of the time. Good luck!
