What is the hardest thing you had to give up?

The biggest thing I gave up was familiarity and a sense of identity.

I found it really hard to move to another continent, move to the suburbs and change my name. Felt like I was hiding myself from the world.

Secondly, my friends. I miss them tremendously. We talk every week, but it doesn't feel enough somehow. I miss our weekly meet-ups for dinner, tea, movie nights, etc. No one understands me like they do (and my fiancee). They were the only ones that were genuinely happy for me.

First is my oldest son and my parents.

Second would be my Government job I had for 7 years...

Then all my dear friends that I have had since childhood, cant find a good friend here since the 4 years I have been here.

My family, my lifestyle, my identity......I totally underestimated how much I would miss all three.

My four gorgeous ponies and two adorable guinea pigs I miss them so much but I know they are living a VERY nice comfortable life with my mother and father. I thought about bringing one of my ponies over but the cost and then stress to him far outweighed the pros of having him here. I miss living on acres but hopefully my USC hubby and I will buy acres soon. Also here we have much nicer cars and motorcycles, and then friends with horses so I am not totally without

Especially since the job prospects are dwindling. Everything else is bearable.

I will be leaving to the US in November, which is just about 3 months away and I just can't seem to make up my mind enough to leave things behind. I really don't want to leave my parents behind, although I don't stay with them anymore... but I still get to go back home and see my parents and my beloved dog!!! I am soooo gonna miss them. I have a good job here but it's not as important. I can't leave my parents, dog and hamster behind...

Well, I am the USC however I moved to the Northeast where my husband had been living. I left my Daughter and my Mom in Miami. Daughter in school at the time and my mom said she would keep her . Even though we are in the same country it is hard to get to Miami as often as I like, then when I go it is even harder to leave her and my moms again. I can not begin to imagine those of you who move countries for your SO, but that wht happens when we love..............

I have a similar situation to yours, not family wise, but I too moved across country, from the Northeast to Texas. 'Nuff said there, I think.
