THE JOB - URINE TEST

(Whoever wrote this one deserves a HUGE pat on the back!)

Like most folks in this country, I have a job. I work, they pay me. I pay my taxes and the government distributes my taxes as it sees fit. In order to get that paycheck in my case, I am required to pass a random urine test (with which I have no problem). What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to people who don't have to pass a urine test.

So, here is my Question: Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check because I have to pass one to earn it for them?

Please understand, I have no problem with helping people get back on their feet. I do, on the other hand, have a problem with helping someone sitting on their #### - doing drugs, while I work. . . . Can you imagine how much money each state would save if people had to pass a urine test to get a public assistance check?

I guess we could title that program, 'Urine or You're Out'.

Something has to change in this country -- and soon!!!!!!!

I agree with you 100%.... I have been bitching about this for years. I work in Public Housing and I get to see everyday the misuse and abuse of the system.

i think this is a great idea i mean even if ur trying to immigrate to the usa if u have any drug problem u dont get here so why is it that we have to pay people to be on public assistance that prolly could work but they are burning up their brain cells with drugs

has been a pet peeve of mine for years i go into the grocery store and stand behind people on food stamps on drugs purchasing not the food they were suppose to but munchies, there are a lot of usa people that truely need a helping hand every now and again i dont begrudge them the help they need but i do not like the idea that my tax dollars go to generations of welfare families, i was told when i complained about this before that welfare was never meant to be a way of life but only a temporary help to those in need

I'm a Libertarian, so naturally I'd have a problem with this. I am against any drug testing of any kind. What you do at your home is your business, and yours alone. If it interferes with your job performance, then you deserve to be fired for merit.

I agree with you. Unless the job is related to public safety or is inherently dangerous drug tests are a violation of my privacy. But, if I have to take one then those that benefit from my taxes should also take one.

On a side note, the test for pot is a totally unfair one. It does not say if you are high at the moment or if you took a toke a week ago at a party. That one should be banned altogether.

Agreed on the job testing. However, some workplaces specifically tell you they are drug free and that you will be subjected to test sporadically or whatnot. If you are against this, it is your choice not to take the job.

As for social welfare programs; many do require drug testing.

While I find myself at most times in the middle ground, don't claim Republican or Democrat status and am also against most drug testing. BUT, there are jobs that MUST be held to a higher standard when it comes to PUBLIC SAFETY. I.E. I don't wanna be flying over the Pacific Ocean with some coke freak steering the plane, same goes with testing of people on Welfare and Public Assistance. If they want it then they have to abide by some higher standard rules.

So I guess i'm Urine and UrOut both.

I don't really mind if they buy candy bars and chips with the stamps. I mean, I buy that ####### too when I really shouldn't. What gets me is that because I don't qualify for food stamps, public housing, subsidized daycare, welfare, and a host of other programs that my students all tell me, not at my probing, that their families qualify for, I can't afford the cell phones that they all have. I can't afford to have the mani/pedis that they get. I can't afford the bling they all wear. I can't afford new clothes for myself much less the expensive shoes they all wear. I can't afford to go to the number of movies they go see. I can't afford to bring my daughter to the water park that they go to on the weekends. And the other day, my mom accidentally saw the checkout screen of the woman in front of her, and it stated she had a balance of over $550 remaining in food stamps. I don't know, maybe she has six kids at home, but my entire discretionary budget to cover gas, new shoes for my daughter, groceries, pens and paper for my students, etc., is well under that.
