do you guys have any kind of long time family friends that meet the qualifying amount? Maybe you could go that way to solve the problem.

I would start talking to family and friends, there must be someone who qualifies that you know.

Enjoy the wedding, enjoy the honeymoon.

When you are back at home reread Katherine's advice and do some hard thinking about possible co-sponsors. Maybe your family will warm to the idea.

Being out of status is not fair to your new spouse. This is serious business with real consequenses.

Best of luck to you both.

Yep, enjoy the wedding and after awhile, figure out what to do next. What your father did is not nice, but obviously it is a result of your relationship with your growing-up family. Maybe there is a bridge or two that you can rebuild, even at the expense of swallowing your youthful pride as a step toward accepting the reality that you NEED its help. That's not intended to be any more harsh than encouraging you to reflect and find a way out of your situation.

Also you have no idea why my father doesn't approve of our marriage now so I really don't appreciate your assumption. What type of hardhearted person laughs and chastises someone in such a manner the night before the person asking questions is getting married?! We all had to go through long hard ordeals to be with our loved ones, I wouldn't expect such venom from someone on here.

It no longer matters why your father doesen't appove of your marriage, your missing the point, the only thing that matters is the USCIS... Your not getting venom it's just the way it works....

The bold bit is important. It's time to sit down and have a serious chat with your father about why he's changed his mind and what his concerns are. When I first met my USC in-laws, they basically refused to even acknowledge that I existed and said some *horrible* things about me to my wife behind my back. If we had needed a co-sponsor (and believe me, we were so close to needing one that it was scary), we'd have been totally screwed. BUT - today, I get on very well with both of them - they were just concerned about a couple of things, the speed [that they perceived] we were moving towards marriage and the age-gap between us mostly. Once they had realised that I'm an OK person and wasn't just looking for a visa, that I made my wife happier than she had been in years and that we worked together, they came around. I have no doubt that if we were AOS-ing today and needed a co-sponsor, we could count on them to help us. I'd never have thought that possible back then so these things can be overcome but you have to listen to his concerns and work to dispel them.

When we applied for our K-1 Visa my dad was a co-sponsor for the affidavit of support. My father now does not support the fact that we are getting married and will definitely not agree to sign this form or provide his information again.

What are we supposed to do?

If we send in the information again then we definitely will not be approved because I only made 2k in the past year.

Will they deport him even after we've gone through all of this to get married the "right" way in the eyes of US law?

We're getting married tomorrow and I'm so overwhelmed by the idea of having to do another I-864, wasn't it enough the first time?!

Anyone can be a co-sponsor, not only a family member. Begin to talk with friends and other family members to find a co-sponsor.

What is your current annualized income? That is what is most important.

Ask someone else to be your co-sponsor.

We have no one else, absolutely no one. He was our last resort the first time we had to do this. Can I not reuse the same forms?

No, it is a different affidavit. You need another joint sponsor or his AoS will not be approved and he will have to leave the country (as a Canadian he can come back to visit) Get another joint sponsor if possible, you say no, but maybe.

"What type of hardhearted person laughs and chastises someone in such a manner the night before the person asking questions is getting married"

An older person who has already had relationships that didn't work because of lack of money worries.

Doesn't help to have family that doesn't approve also!!

Brain is just starting to kick in at 19!

Try 39. But be that as it may, anyone over 18 can marry and I wish them luck.

I'm not even going to get into how rude some people have been in this topic, but my opinion is that,

I would def try and talk with your father some more. Maybe once your married and he see's that your

husband is going anywhere, he'll warm up to the idea. I would have your husband sit down with him

and explain to him how he feels about you and that he does want to provide for you when he's able to.

I know my father appreciated an email from my husband before we got married by him explaining

how he felt about me, our relationships, future plans and that he had every intention of taking care

of me.

Whatever you do, I hope you had a great wedding day and wish you the best!

And ignore people who try and bring other's down and don't support people, whether or not

they agree with decisions you've made.
