Hey guys, I'm a bit of a lurker but I have a question.

My husband recently got his 2 year GC. Today he went down to apply for a electrical apprenticeship. The Advisor who runs the program wanted to see dh's high school diploma and proof of having taken algebra. My dh had his Welsh Certificate of Accreditation (which looks to be about the same as our diploma) and his GCSE grades, as well as a certificate of advanced maths he got while in the army. The advisor looked completely clueless, because he'd never seen foreign diplomas before. He asked if we could get it translated. I did some browsing on this site and came across threads dealing with that but they all seem geared more towards college degrees, seems a bit extreme to have to do it for a high school equivalency, when his job and everyone else seems to just accept that as his diploma.

So what I'm wondering is will it really be necessary to pay some company to have to agree that it's the same or is there someplace to verify it.

Any info is appreciated :thumbs:
