If you need a babysitter, just let me know! My daughter is great! haha

I know the feeling...I can't wait for my Finn to get here! Our families may just get here around the same time actually!

Long commute for a babysitter (even if it is just Seattle to Oly-Town). I am definitely keeping my fingers crossed that they both get here soon. If they do we should get together and celebrate. Bessalamati and all that (I think that is "cheers" in Finnish... but it has been ages since I spoke with any Finnish people. Yksi kaksi kolma nelia ... I used to be able to count to ten).

Mark :)

Good luck Ms.Sheka! You'll be fine. As long as your mailing box isn't over 7 lbs., because I want to keep the record. ha!

Mark-well, I meant anytime you and your lovely wife want to come to the big city for a night out! But yes, we should get together when everyone's here. That would be so much fun! I don't know that Bessa word but you have the counting right! I've been taking Finnish classes in Bellevue since November. It's one tough language to learn, and makes no sense!!!!!

Our timeline:

2/88: We met in Sydney, Australia at a youth hostel! He's Finnish, I'm American-both were in our early 20s at the time and fresh out of college (so couldn't afford to visit each other's countries after that!). We had a three-day romance, then went our separate ways. He actually was going to Sydney a week later, but decided at the last minute to cut his trip short in another country and go early. Wow.

1988-1998: Wrote "snail mail" letters/sent Xmas cards, but lived our separate lives. I married someone else, divorced in 2006...he lived with someone for years and then that ended.

10/08: Because of a series of random life events, I Googled my Finn Man and found him (but no link to his email, and the website his name was on was in Estonian so I couldn't even read it!). It took me two weeks to find a link to someone else, who forwarded my email to him (we were both single at the time thankfully!!!!). The email went to his spam folder but he happened to check it that day and responded back to me immediately! This was after 10 years of no contact and almost 21 years of not seeing each other after we first met.

11/08-5/09: We traveled back and forth to visit each other. Love at first (second?) sight!

7/09: Married in Helsinki, Finland...after meeting randomly 21 1/2 years ago and finding each other again!!!!!

8/13/09: I-130 sent!!!!!!!!!

Rest is on my timeline!

To be honest with you, The only thing I used were paperclips and a plastic bag for the pictures. However I organized eveything very well with the paperclips. It's all about being organized. I was reading how some people used lables, coversheets, elminated sheets etc...I said being an overachiever is good  but I'll keep it basic and to the point.

VISA APPROVED!!!!!

For my petition, we taped the pictures to paper, and we kept all the different forms together with paperclips. But the petition itself was held together with a binder clip. :D We got approved okay. Just don't use staples!

OK, I'm the opposite side of the coin from everyone else. I hadn't discovered VJ yet when I sent in our I-130. I didn't even have a cover letter. I just threw all the forms and pictures and documents in an envelope and sent them off. No paper clips or anything. And I didn't know I should make copies of everything, just in case, so I didn't. But we went through in an average amount of time...so it's all good.

It takes 8 months for us to see each other back again since we started our visa process, and now here we are reunited back again and happy together.
