Did it stop for lunch in Memphis or something????

Our timeline:

2/88: We met in Sydney, Australia at a youth hostel! He's Finnish, I'm American-both were in our early 20s at the time and fresh out of college (so couldn't afford to visit each other's countries after that!). We had a three-day romance, then went our separate ways. He actually was going to Sydney a week later, but decided at the last minute to cut his trip short in another country and go early. Wow.

1988-1998: Wrote "snail mail" letters/sent Xmas cards, but lived our separate lives. I married someone else, divorced in 2006...he lived with someone for years and then that ended.

10/08: Because of a series of random life events, I Googled my Finn Man and found him (but no link to his email, and the website his name was on was in Estonian so I couldn't even read it!). It took me two weeks to find a link to someone else, who forwarded my email to him (we were both single at the time thankfully!!!!). The email went to his spam folder but he happened to check it that day and responded back to me immediately! This was after 10 years of no contact and almost 21 years of not seeing each other after we first met.

11/08-5/09: We traveled back and forth to visit each other. Love at first (second?) sight!

7/09: Married in Helsinki, Finland...after meeting randomly 21 1/2 years ago and finding each other again!!!!!

8/13/09: I-130 sent!!!!!!!!!

Rest is on my timeline!

hey fellow august-ers or is it agoust-ers? :)

we are still waiting for our NOA1 hardcopy. my hubby mailed the package august 1st. it got to chicago lockbox on the 3rd. they cashed the check on the 10th. and still waiting for that NOA1. we already have the receipt number tho. got it from the back of his check when they cashed it. also we are still not in the system. i keep checking everyday if they already put us on there.

i am beginning to wonder if it's because my hubby put his apartment address (reno) in the form but a PO Box on the cover letter? we argue about it. i say they will send it to his apartment, which i worry about (again) because he lives alone and nobody is there to receive it in case they indeed send it there. he keeps saying they will send it to his PO box. his PO Box is in a small town where his mom lives. this is driving me nuts not knowing. some of u sent your packages after us and already got your NOA1 hardcopy and we still haven't gotten ours :crying: i am starting to really get worried

The # on the back of my check was wrong. When I couldn't get it to work online, I called USCIS and they gave me the correct # (one digit off from the check #). I was then able to check online. You might want to call and see if your # is different!

Go create an account here (thanks, Finn):

https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/logon.do

Then add your cases to that account and you should be able to follow along (for me this is still theoretical, as my checks haven't even cleared yet).

Yeah, touches don't really mean anything. Many approvals happen without any touches, and there are even approvals that occur and the online site still says pending. USCIS is a giant mystery. Be sure to call and bug them ever so often.

Oh, I know touches don't mean anything, except at least someone's looking at it or switching it to another desk! It's still a little exciting...

Abbie, the last digit to my WAC number on the back of the check was wrong. I had to add one to the digit. I've read elsewhere on VJ that this is the case for many. For example, if the number on the back of the check was 12345, my number would be 12346.
