If having GC for over 5 years, even if was originally marriage based

and still married I can still choose 5 years filing by myself instead of

by marriage, which seems like another GC battle.

Am I correct?

Correct, even if it's no such battle, just a little more (standard) evidence to bring but that's it.

However, if you had your GC for over 5 years, definitely go with the 5-yr rule.

Yes, you are correct. I also was in the situation of being bale to choose, and decided the "five year" option was a much simpler route togo.
