At&t Cell Phones connection

I live in San Diego and I have At&t iphone with international capabilities, for the last 6 months. I use my cell phone to maintain contact with my fiance in Cebu. I have not been able to contact her using my cell phone, I keep getting recording says..."The country I am calling all lines are busy". Yet, I am able to make a call from my home phone, no problem.

I have called At&t and they just tell me there is storms in phils and that it is just busy because of lack of lines available. We can also still receive and send texts. I do not think it is a problem with lines, I think there is some thing wrong with my service.

I was wondering if anybody else has At&t cellphone international capabilities and are you encountering the same problem? Any info is greatly appreciated. I wanted a little more info from people before I stormed the at&t office, ha ha ha.

Thanks

Blaze em! I cant get good connections in the US. Period.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

I had issues with that calling Jamaica. I went through 3U telecom.....where I dialed in their number and when prompted, the JA number I was calling. Not only did I save lots of money, I got an immediate connection.

AT&T used to blow it off and blame the JA connection too. It's something with them.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

i have att international and sometimes it drops on me or yeah busy but most of the time i can get thru... did you dial the number right? 011+63 (+area code+phone number) (or for cellphone numbers, i believe it starts with #9 and has 10 digit no#)

i think thats how i dial their numbers when i called them... but im using skype now too. its good because for as long as you're phone is connected to a wifi, u can call them thru ur phone (using the skype application). as for the charges, not much of a difference. i believe 2-3 cents cheaper than att... good luck!!!

Install the Skype app on your iPhone, and use Skype to call the Phils.

You can't use Skype to dial over 3G, but it works great over Wifi on iPhone.

Hi...thanks for the feedback.

Yes, I am calling the same way 011 etc, etc. I have called this number for months and months, and yes at times I would get a drop call, but most of the time can get through. But now, i just got done spending over an 1 hour on phone with trouble shooters at at&t, and they can not figure out what is the matter. I have gotten a phone card, and I can call using it, I can call using my home phone etc, but not at&t cellphone international. When my fiance wakes I will get her mom's phone number call it and see what happens. This is just another frustrating day in the life of a VJ'er, ha ha ha.

Take care!!

Hubby used his AT&T cellphone everytime he calls me while I was in Cebu.

He doesn't have problems with the lines being busy but his calls always cross to somebody else's phone.

He thought I cheated on him after he called once and then a guy answered. Haha! :D

It depends where you call.

For Syria - see here http://www.skype.com/intl/en/prices/callrates/#listing-S

$0.375 per minute

We have a world subscription, which lets us call all we want to countries covered in the subscription plan ($12.95 monthly, I think ... we paid for a full year in advance).

It covers about 40 countries including USA, Canada, Israel, Thailand which are the main destinations we call.

I have had the same problem. However, it seems for me that the problem has improved somewhat. I can confirm that there are connection issues in Asia right now. My SO has Smart cell service in Phil. I usually go online to buy her load sometimes. But The last day or thwo there has been significant problems adding load. The website also says that there are internet and connection problems in Asia right now. BTW, If you are using AT&T here in the us and calling philippines, I use +63 then the number. not 01163. Seems it goes through better that way. However I don't think that way works with CDMA carriers like Verizon or Sprint.

I have an ATT cell phone and have had the busy signal and all lines are busy message as well for the last couple days. It just cleared up today though. I tried both via the cell direct and via a calling card on the cell. I use pingo.com for the calling card number and it did it as well just with a slightly different all lines are busy message.

I have at&t, and sometimes I can get through call the Philippines on the very first try, and sometimes it takes 3-4 tries to connect. I try to call late at night when the network is not that busy. My phone has 3g, I don't know if it helps or not.
