how long can a child with US passport stay out of America

hello everyone,

A friend of mine, ask how long can her son stay out of the US? The son got his US passport through CRBA and they're now in the states. They're planning to go back to Philippines this November. They just came here last June (not sure but just recently).

Any answers are highly appreciated. Thank you.

There are two answers/sides for your question:

1) A US citizen can stay outside the US as long as he wants (generally speaking);

2) A US citizen can stay in the Philippines for three weeks without a visa. More than that will require an extension from the Bureau of Immigration.

I was in the Philippines with my son and he is USC for one month and we did apply for something or any paper.

I mean did not as in nothing

If he has a Philippine PP and US and has dual citizenship he can stay indefinitely.
