I hope this is not a stupid question or questions, but im seeking a little insight. we got the k-1visa already- approved last month. im going to get her next month. i know we will be getting married soon after, but what i want to know is;

1. when can she get a SSAN?

2. what do we need to do so she can travel outside of the country after marriage?

3. when is she allowed to work?

4. when do we need to go to INS?

i can figure this out but it would help if i could hear from someone that already went thru this

thanks to anyone that can give me some answers

Arriving on a K-1, she can get her SSN about two weeks after. After you are married, you file for her green card, advance parole, and work permit. It will be about three months before she can work legally and also travel outside the country. The green card, maybe six months after applying, will allow work and travel. Everything you need to know is on this website.

as much of the above pertains to another forum, i'm moving this thread from K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures to Working & Traveling prior to getting a Green Card

notes from this new forum: During this time, you will not typically be able to work or leave the US without jeopardizing your immigration status unless you have an Employment Authorization Document (EAD) or an Advance Parole (AP) from the USCIS. This section also covers getting a Social Security Number (SSN) and is for general discussion on all these topics.
