I was under the impression that after 16 years of age one has to get the PCC from all places one has stayed more than 06 months

but guess what I WAS WRONG

when i went through

http://newdelhi.usembassy.gov/police_certificates.html

i wasnt sure so i heard it from the horse's mouth....i called the us embassy in delhi.....alrite this shud be in bold cuz i see lot many people are under wrong impression here :

NEW DELHI EMBASSY JUST REQUIRES YOU TO PRODUCE TWO PCC

1. FROM DISTRICT POLICE OFFICE OF YOUR CURRENT PLACE OF RESIDENCE.

2. PCC FROM REGIONAL PASSPORT OFFICE...that's it nothing more ......hope it helps :)

Hi Sanu,

Thanks a lot for sharing this info....I got the following link which clearly states what you mentioned...

http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/reciproc...ocity_3582.html

Police Records

Indian Police Clearance Certificates should be obtained as follows:

All Indian IV applicants aged 16 and above, residing in India, should obtain police certificates from the local Passport Office. These are usually more dependable than those obtained at a local level and indicate that the subject had no serious criminal convictions on record at the time of passport issuance. Applicants whose Indian passport was issued within the past six months may present just the Passport Office Police Certificate, and need not obtain additional police clearances.

Applicants over age 16, whose passports were issued more than six months previous to visa application, must also obtain a police clearance from the District Police Office serving the applicant's place of residence.

Indian passport holders applying for visas outside India should obtain a statement from their local embassy or consulate confirming they have no criminal record.

Non-Indian IV applicants residing in India should obtain police certificates from the District Police Station serving their area of residence.

Indian police certificates are not available for foreign (non-Indian) applicants applying outside India

I stayed in almost 7 states in India for the past 10 years and I was desperate, how to collect PCC from all those states..But now I feel relieved by your comment since I went thru many forums and could see that many of our folks are having the impression that they have to collect PCC from everywhere they stayed for more than 6 months ...I request our friends to share their interview experiences when PCC was not produced (from other places)...Keep going...

Thanks and regards

Aby & Amy

w0w! this is exactly what bothers me at the moment! coz i listed all the places i lived since 16 yrs old and when i tried to get a PCC from one of the places i lived, I wasnt issued a barangay clearance which i need to secure a PCC; the officer said I am no longer a resident of their barangay so they cannot give me clearance. so i guess the info you gave helped me. i will just get a PCC from my current address to bring during the interview soon...
