Exposing sick people to the flu virus is your idea of sensible? Everyone KNOWS that you do not go to the dr's office with flu symptoms and if you want to try to prevent people in your own household getting sick, the ONLY way is excellent hygiene. So, we know what kind of a moron you are now, thanks ;)

If you have the flu, there is nothing the Dr can do to stop you getting sick - you can treat the symptoms to a certain extent but going to a dr's office is extremely irresponsible behaviour. Are you all out of your tiny minds today?

I don't know why people put doctors into this God like status that can do no wrong. There are doctors out there that are in medicine for the money. Now saying this, I didn't get that Obama was saying that doctors cut off the feet of diabetics for money, because he didn't say that. He said that doctors are not paid by the insurance company to offer preventative medicine, but they are paid to provide surgery for something that could have been prevented. It shows how f'ed up our insurance industry is.

So doctor's are now cutting off people'e legs and feet for profit, even though thats the job of a surgeon. So the doctor is recommending something that can get his a$$ sued to high heaven if he's wrong. I suppose you can come up with proof that the doctor is getting kick-backs from referrals to the surgeon?

If Obama said birds can fly because they're filled with helium - you sheep and lemmings would believe anything he said and rationalize it. Grow a brain.

One main issue that the administration has continuously stressed in this debate is the screwed up way in which many health insurance plans handle preventive care - this ranges from the compensation rates for such services to the fact that preventive care is often not fully covered. The issue then is that people may not consume preventive care the way they should or that doctors may not spend the time they should on thoghrouly consulting with the patient. Show of hand for all those that see the doc for maybe 5-10 minutes during their routine annual visit and show of hands for all those that have skipped those routine annual visits altogether.

This reality leads to preventable, major medical procedures that are not only outrageously expensive but also have severely negative impacts on the patient. Based on the major pillars of health care reform outlined by the adminsitration, I most certainly disagree with the assertion made earlier that there "is no other way of interpreting Obama's remarks" (as published by opponents of health care reform, no less) than to mean that he suggested that doctors would be deliberately lax on preventive care to ensure larger fees for resulting medical services. This is most definitely the most malicious interpretation of the quoted remarks but not even close to the only one out there.

Madam Gumball:

Indications and dosage

Oseltamivir is indicated for the treatment and prevention of infections due to influenza A and B virus in people at least one year of age. The usual adult dosage for treatment of influenza is 75 mg twice daily for 5 days, beginning within 2 days of the appearance of symptoms and with decreased doses. Oseltamivir may be given as a preventive measure either during a community outbreak or following close contact with an infected individual.

You don't even understand the indications on your own medicine, point proven again.

However, none of this addresses my point that if you have flu like symptoms, the last place you should visit is a dr's office because necessarily those at the office are already sick and do not need to have their health further compromised by a dose of flu. You do understand that flu is far worse for those who are already sick, don't you???

It is up to the patient to go in an do preventive care. I used to go every two years for a full physical. A few years ago my doctor told me to start doing it yearly and I have. Now I just went and did a full physical and he said I will need to next year start having a physical twice a year and I said no problem.

Now every physical I have ever done always shows me in good health. All vitals and tests are good. Why do all this? because I asked him to do whatever needs done to keep me living as long as possible and he said he will. I have great health care. My out of pockets last year was almost 200 dollars. Unfortunately he is not accepting any new patients for last two years as he is swamped and he has two new doctors that are at their limit and he is having problems right now finding a new one to come in so he can accept more.

Ok, Fox news is complete stupidity. Since when is stating a fact that reimbursement is ####### for primary care and much better for procedures some evil thing. THere is no insinuation that doctors are amputating people for cash. It is a fact that I can make much more by cutting the guys foot off and doing other procedures than by providing primary care for diabetes and weight management. I can also do less paperwork which equals more time for me which equals seeing more patients/doing more procedures which equals more money. He's stating that reimbursement is messed up in this country and that there needs to be a swing towards preventative medicine. Please God let that happen so I can actually make some money in a few years :)

THis isn't a matter of evil doctors cutting limbs off, its a matter of new doctors not going into primary care because the pay is #######. I do the same training and can make 400K as a surgeon or 150K as a GP (if I'm lucky).
