my brother is leaving for pakistan in a couple of months and he is about to apply for re-entry permit.my question is should we put the receiving address some address in USA or US embassy in islamabad pakistan?since he is going to be in pakistan in a couple of months and i have heard it usually takes more than a couple of months to receive the card definitely he will be in pakistan.

is it legal if someone receives the re-entry permit on behalf of my brother and send him to pakistan via courier?

he doesnt want to go to pakistan embassy because they are so slow and he doesnt want to go through a lot of security checks and obviously waste of a full day.

so,is it possible if someone receives his permit in usa and send him to his address in pakistan through a courier?

it has only been one month since we entered usa.

and there is a question in the I-131 form

since becoming a permanent resident or united states(or during past five years, whichever is less) how much total time have to spend in USA?

the options are

less than 6 months

more than six months less than a year

more than a year less than 2 years

we have to check one option but after getting the green card he has never been outside the usa.

the correct option should be 'never'

should we leave it as it is without checking any box?or we should write and explain on a separate sheet.

what do we do?

If your brother has a green card he doesn't need to apply for a re-entry permit. The green card is what he uses to return to the US.

there is another question on what to fill in for the question 'class of admission'.

And your bother is a permanent resident? (Or what?)

They now do biometrics for reentry permit, so he will have to stay until US until he gets his fingerprints done, may take some time.

Have it mailed to a US address and send it on via courier, that should be fine

thanks a lot.

my brother got an approval letter today and appointment for biometrics on 25th august.

that was pretty quick from USCIS Nebraska.

we applied on aug 13th.

received approval notice on aug 19th

and biometrics be taken on aug 25th.

anyone wants help feel free to contact me.
