Immunization Quandary

My wife is working on the AOS and everything is ready except we are experiencing severe delays with the I-693. The vaccine that is giving us headaches is the HPV vaccine. Today, she went to the public health department to have this vaccine done and they said that before they would administer it, she would have to go to her doctor and have a Pap Smear test done. We are extremely frustrated because time is running out. We are planning to travel back to her home country in mid November. However it takes up to 90 days to get the Advance Parole. What should we do? Should we file the AOS and leave out the I-693? Would this delay the Advance Parole?

I'm sorry, but what is wrong with doing a Pap smear (remember to ask for HPV typization - if it shows she has some HPV types she may not need to get the vaccine)? It is painless and results are back within a week.

Did your fiance receive the DS-3025 Vaccination wWorksheet at the medical exam? If so, and you are doing AOS soon after she entered the country, you may not need an updated I-693.

We only submitted the DS-3025 with our AOS documents and there were no problems.

The DS3025 won't work for her because she is still lacking HPV so it's not complete.

It's possible that the AP could be approved before an adjudicator gets around to studying the DS3025 with the AOS part of the application if you sent DS3025 instead. I don't think the AP is dependent on a medical. It's just allowing you to travel while your AOS is pending. It's processed separately at a different place. So if your AOS is pending, albeit incomplete, you may get the AP anyway. Meanwhile she could be scheduling her Pap and getting the HPV and an I-693 and be ready when the RFE comes for AOS. At least you would be in the system and getting scheduled for biometrics, rather than waiting of doctor appointments.

I ended up calling around and found a doctor who will give my wife the shot without first having to do the Pap smear test. She is going to have it done tomorrow morning.

Several other questions:

1. Regarding the Advanced Parole, should she fill it out using her maiden last name or my last name which she has now taken and is printed on the Marriage Certificate?

2. How long does the Advance Parole usually ends up taking after filing for AOS? If we file on Monday, it will be 96 days before we plan to travel back to her country. Is there any way to expedite the process? I hate to buy tickets and find out the Advanced Parole has been delayed.

3. What kind of documents does the Civil Surgeon need for transferring over the vaccine records? My wife has a thick paper card that has been stamped from her country that shows what vaccines have been administered. She also has a copy of a document called Tarjeta de Control de Vacunaciones from her doctor. Are these documents sufficient?

There is a chance you'll get an RFE without it and if you do you your going to be very very tight timewise. I will say I don't think they look over the DS3025 very closely. We didn't get the HPV and they never noticed all the way through.
