When my husband arrived here I picked him up at the airport at 11:23p & there was so much catching up to do, (yes cuddling and  well you know) but he is not going to be able to sleep when he gets here. He is going to want to sit and talk just revel in being with you. I prepared myself for our meeting in the airport to not be that big scene that they show in the movies, I mean come on 27 hours on a plane, he never saw night till he arrived in Florida for the entire trip, I just figured he would want a cigarette, a shower and some sleep, but I was totally wrong. It was just like the movies, ran to each other, some cute lil comments about "hey you looking for me" and then the big hug and kiss and couldn't let go of each other for , ok I was gonna say days but we are still like that LOL.

Make him something he likes to eat, myhusband loves kit kats so I had those and nerd rope on hand LOL, had his favorite soda in the fridge, and just made him feel as loved, and welcomed as I could.

Don't stress, it will be great, wonderful, and the most memorable day of your life when he steps off that plane. To be honest you could pick him up in a brown paper bag, with terrible bed head, and he is not even going to remember that.

Actually he will have been here one year on the 29th of August, so we are going to the airport to hang out for the day and watch all the people doing exactly what we did!

I am so excited for you, congratulations and best of luck!

You got some pretty crazy replies. I am sure you know by now what to do or he is already in the house. I can tell you what we did. I was in Nicaragua with my love but my family met us at the airport with balloons and posters saying 'Welcome'. When we got home we took a bubble bath and had champagne. Have a great time!!

Other than the obvious things you would doing to get ready you should make sure to have a little place for his things to be.

Have some traditional american comfort foods cooked and stored away so that you have some good food to introduce him too and it will free up your time cooking it.

As far as getting ready for the bedroom....lol...it goes without sayin peeps.....i'm just sayin

I was way too tired and emotional when I got here to be up for a surprise party. I'm so glad there wasn't one waiting for me!

I travelled 14 hours after having no sleep the night before (partying with my friends). As soon as he picked me up, he asked if I was OK and I burst into tears because of all the emotion of having goodbyes and hellos.

We just took it easy... went to McDonalds which became our first-night tradition, then watched TV in bed together until I fell asleep.
