Social Security Card - Doubt

Have my social security card with my married name but it's written "valid for work only with dhs authorization". I went to the Social Security Office and the lady told me that I can't get a "normal" SSC (=without the restriction) because I am not an American citizen. I showed my GC as well.

I read in the FAQ que after the AOS it's recommended to replace the cards. Do I need to replace it? What she said it's correct?

Thanks,

Many SS office workers are not up on everything they should know, especially small offices that don't deal with alot of immigrants. Go back and ask for a supervisor because a legal resident is authorized to work and can have a card without that stamped on it. You don't really ever need to show that card so it doesn't matter, but if you want a proper card, then you can get one. Half of America probably doesn't even know where their card is, but they have the number memorized.

Thanks,

Talk to another person or go to another SS office in your area. When i received my GC, besides the change of name since i applied my SS while I'm single, i also requested that the restriction be taken out of my SScard. I had no prblem with it. Received my new card less than two week. No restriction indicated.
