Hi Every one,

My Fiancée has an interview in Mid Sept. in Ankara Turkey, she is traveling to Ankara few days before and I'll be joining her there for the interview, I have set Her Medical appointment 4 days before her interview is this enough time for doing medical?

Also do you have any suggestions for Medical, Interview, Staying in Turkey?

Do I/Does She need to take any special documents to the Embassy other than, Medical result, Passport, photo, money receipt and original document that we sent in Package 3?

many thanks in advice.

Don't forget to take PROOF!!! Pictures, letters, email, bank statements, ticket stubs, etc!!! But other that that you've got everything covered. And don't worry...4 days is plenty of time to get the medical done.

Good luck!!!!!!

Oh and I've heard that in Turkey you MIGHT have some problem with theft, a few friends of mine went there for vacation --one got their purse stolen, another got his leather jacket stolen, and one even got their passport stolen... just keep an eye out for your things and don't take more money that you need to out with you...I probably wouldn't leave passports in hotel rooms or anywhere within reach. Apparently the cops aren't very cooperative either. But hopefully NONE of this will happen to you... and either way, most of it seems to happen in Istambul and not Ankara... but I guess all this is common sense no matter where one travels.

Don't be suprised if they treat you like dirt. I went all the way there for my wife's first K3 visa and they yelled at me right off the back and said they only wanted to talk to my wife.

They did not give her the visa right away and made us first submit proof we were married through phone bills, emails, and more pictures... Make sure you have these things incase they screw you too.

They just denied my wife again after the CR-1 interview and put us on AP, which can take 1-6 months extra. There is no reason for it... they are just haters. My tiny wife looks like a threat to them I guess.

in 2007 i was in turkey to get married, i went to the embassy and signed the affidavit to marry from there. once i left, we realized (me and hubby) that i didn't have my passport. went back, asked if they had kept it, looked all around the area, freaked out....it was gone. i had to go back in and request an emergency passport, but not before going to the local police station and filling out a report...totally ridiculous. they only were nice to me because i was cerkez. on top of that, we had to get that translated and notarized LOL.

do definitely be careful...larger cities tend to attract more thieves although ankara is way safer than istanbul in my opinion, most likely due to the government, military and police presence there.

in regards to accomodations...well, we stayed at this ghetto hotel in Ulus, mostly because it was cheap. it was 50 YTL a night, if you are interested, it was Otel Cevizoglu, a 5 minute taxi ride from the posthane in Kizilay. the staff is pretty polite and nice. the rooms weren't bad but the bathroom sucked :D

there are some gambling spots and seedy areas nearby, but generally it wasn't too bad. you may feel weird about it if you're used to staying at the hilton or something. hotels are expensive in general in Ankara.

sorry to hear about this :( hope your AP ends quickly

Hello to all.

What does AP that you mentioned here mean? All I could find from looking it up was 'Advanced Parole'. What does it mean in this case? Why is it such a bad thing? Does it apply to green card/CR1 cases? etc...

Also, are there major differences about consulates that Iranian people usually choose for green card/CR1 interview (specially between Ankara, Istanbul, Dubai, Abu Dhabi). Are there any major advantages/disadvantages (more waiting time, etc...) on any of those, or any reason one should pick one over another?

Thanks,

I think the only nearby options are Abu Dhabi and Ankara. We prefer Abu Dhabi since we have been to UAE before but not to Turkey.

Thanks Vadood,

I found that about AP (administrative processing); Also Ankara, Abu Dhabi, Naples, Vienna are the possible options. I am mostly considering Abu Dhabi, and Ankara (obviously because of easy visa requirements).

I am becoming more leaned towards Abu Dhabi too :star: but I am still trying to find out more info to make sure I am making a correct choice (I don't think there is a major difference, or one of them is a no-no; but I thought I just check here too).

Thanks again and good luck to you too :)

AP means Administrative processing, which is the process that it will start after the interview, it may take about a day, week, months, years. is like FBI check, name check and etc, pray for an interview without AP and it apply to all iranians, Turks, Middleastern.

Thanks KGH. Do you also know if I can choose the consulate I want to interview in myself, or if it's something they decide?

I am thinking maybe to pick Abu Dhabi if I have a choice. Is it something that I can decide myself, or they decide it already?... (Any words on Abu Dhabi by the way?)

Thank you very much,

You can decide your self, in one of the forms, when you fill out I-129F, in part 20 you can write your cosulate of your choice, if you are filling our other forms for k3/CR1 I'm sure some where it will ask you too.

all are the same, they all have to report to the State Dept. they all of 3-4 months waiting time for iranians and they all will have the same decision as they do what ever their computer ask them to do.

interview is just to see you and make sure who you are and basic questions, their decisions already been made and is on the computer. if they want to you put some one on AP, they do it both on Abu dhabi and Turkey, they just look at the computer and make their decision.

don't worry, if you are just starting the process, you just have take it one day at a time, K1 is faster than K3/CR1 but that is up to you.

That's not true. The K-1 is not significantly faster than the CR-1--I am almost finished at the NVC and submitted my application to the CSC at the end of June. Your choice of visa application should rest on whether or not you want to get married before living together in the US--but the fiance visa offers no speed benefits UNLESS you're interviewing at an embassy that allocates K-visa interviews more readily than CR-1. And I don't believe that Abu Dhabi or Ankara do so.
