I'm just curious since you never answered me before whether you have a college degree - for someone who claims to know so much about Socialism, tell us what college courses have you taken on the subject?

C'mon, he doesn't have to answer that.

In the context of the thousands of posts he's made using the word 'socialism', oh yes he does.

No... he doesn't. Stop being a #######.

Is it that time of the month A.J?

What is this, payback time?

Pissibly

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

People fear what the know nothing about and don't bother learning about it. No one bothers looking at what type of system of government the most successful nations have. Which by the way, not one have a anything goes capitalist presidential system.

Thanks to the internet that information is at hand 24/7. As is where the current health care system ranks the US in the world. Hint: not first nor near it. As is the current lifespan of people under this current system. As is the quality of life. A five minute internet search will show anyone who has doubt the actual unbiased rankings produced by international organizations.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Hold on a minute!

The districts in my area will give out private school tuition vouchers to those who want to goto private school. I don't know if that is part of the "no child left behind act"

NCLB is an unfunded mandate.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

The only reason he keeps on about it is because he think he gets a rise out of people.

He's given himself more than enough rope to hang himself with - probably why he's reduced to Luckystrike style one-liners.

You're right. Let our resident Rainman tell us what socialism is no matter how wrong he is. As long as he believes he's accurate, that's all the matters.

Yes, let him. Who cares?

When it comes to health care I'll put it this way. Either the rest of the developed world is wrong or it is the US and those who have similar systems (like Rwanda, kenya etc) that are in the wrong. Anyone with common sense would know the answer to that. Do you listen to Honda and Toyota or do listen to GM and Chrysler for advice? Do you listen to Iran on human rights or do you listen to Sweden?

These question should establish the basis of what I am getting at with regards to health care systems. There is a logical pattern here. If Australian needs advice on rockets they will come to the US, not Canada. As with anything, seek and learn from the best.

Australia initially had a 22% sales only tax. After research and consultation with the Canadian government, the conservatives (irony hey) proposed changing it to the Canadian GST equivalent. The other opposition kicked and screamed. After 9 years the tax has been a huge success. Best thing the country did. Lowered the taxes and closed the loopholes.

Health care is the same deal for the US. Learn from others rather than fear change. The irony in Australia is that it's the conservatives who push for the most reform, using the latest business practices. We had an inefficient government too but instead of bitching, we modernized it and improved it.

Why did the opposition kick and scream? Didn't they realize that it's one australia, one people, one destiny?

What position would this country be in if this healthcare bill was passed 10 years ago? With medicare, medicaid and social security as models. What would have happened to quality of care when the financial crisis hit?

We have a model of what it would look like. California. In dire straights cutting to the bone to save money, whos paying? The very ones put in the position by left wing politicians professing to "help" them. Beleive me if a hard recession or depression ever hit us the first thing to go would be healthcare so to even go down that road is pure foolishness.
