Did you go apply for your social security card at your local office or have you recently entered the US on an immigrant visa and are waiting for your card to be delivered?

I just changed the name on my card at the local office and got the card one week later.

If you had a profile, it might help others help you (you're not filing for "N/A" from "N/A").

After reviewing some of your previous posts, it appears you are here by way of CR-1. You should see the card within a few weeks - some folks (like yourself) don't, and they often do one of two things:

1) Go down to the local SSA office and 'apply' for the card

2) Wait a bit longer and hope it comes (sometimes it does, sometimes it takes a trip to the SSA office to get things back on track).

yes m here by cr11 visa i got prc for 2years and wellcom lettre and i m sttill waitting for it.

If you checked off on the DS-230 that you wanted to be assigned an SSN and you have been in the United States 3 weeks or more, you need to go into a Social Security office or Card Center to find out what is going on.

Be sure to take your passport with the MRIV with I-551 stamp or I-551 card and your birth certificate.

When an individual age 18 or older indicates on Form DS-230 that he or she would like to be assigned an SSN when applying for an immigrant visa, one of three things may happen:

1. The application information is not transmitted correctly from the

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Department of State (DOS)

and the individual must go into a Social Security office to submit

an SSN application (Form SS-5).

2. The application information partially transmits from DHS and

DOS and the individual must go into a Social Security office. If

the exception can be corrected the SSN can be assign and card

issued. Otherwise, the individual must submit an SSN application.

3. The application information transmits correctly from DHS and DOS and

the individual is assigned an SSN and the card is mailed to address

provided to DHS for the mailing of the I-551 card.

You can obtain the address and directions to the nearest Social Security office from the Social Security Office Locator, which is available on the Internet at:

http://www.ssa.gov/locator

Note: Applicants who live or receive mail in the Brooklyn, NY, Queens, NY, Phoenix, AZ, Orlando, FL, Sacramento, CA or Las Vegas, NV area MUST apply in person at one of the Social Security Card Centers.

Card Center Information:

If you have applied at a Social Security office the amount of time to be assigned an SSN is going to depend on the amount of time the SSA office needs to verify your immigration status. If it's been over a month you need to go back into the office where you applied and be sure to take your documents.
