Hi all-

Just a note that Marina's parents had their successful visa interviews today in Bucharest, Romania! :thumbs: They were very nervous about this whole trip and interview but they found out it was really nothing to worry about. Now they are on their way back home to Chisinau and begin their new adventure of getting ready to immigrate to the USA!! :dance::dance::dance:

01/20/2009 I-130 Petitions package mailed to Chicago Lockbox (priority mail)
01/31/2009 NOA1's rec'd for both petitions
03/16/2009 Approval notices dated 03/10/09 rec'd in the mail for both petitions (no on-line update)
03/30/2009 NVC DS-3032 packets received by petitioner
03/31/2009 Paid $70 AOS (affadavit of support) fee on-line (one fee for both petitions)
04/10/2009 Marina's parent's e-mailed DS-3032 to NVC for both petitions
04/15/2009 AOS documents for both petitions mailed USPS Priority to NVC
04/21/2009 Rec'd e-mails from NVC for approval for Marina to be designated agent for both

Wonderful news.... Congratulations. Maybe you could post a few details about their interview that might be useful to others. I am so please for you both.

When Marina gets a chance, could she post her parents' interview experience?? It'd be very beneficial to others that are going thru the same process.

The interviewer first asked them if they spoke Romanian or English and they said "some". She asked about Russian and they said "yes" and she called for a Russian translator to come over, which is funny since we had e-mailed the embassy asking them if one would be available and they replied "no".

Marina's parents were interviewed together and were asked only two questions:

1. Is Marina their only daughter? (yes)

2. They asked about the divorce certificate in the file thinking it was one of theirs and they told her that it was Marina's from her first marriage.

Much to their suprise that was all of the questions and then they just finished filling in the DS-230 last page and that was it. They were given back all of their original documents and then they waited a few hours for the visas to be ready. Then they caught the bus later that night for the 8 hour trip back to Chisinau. They will need to sell their flat before moving here so depending on that process we expect them here latest January 2010.

My best advice for people is to take your time and make sure all documents are sent when you file the I-130, I-864, and DS-230. As you can see from the timeline the process was very smooth from beginning to end. Marina's parents brought copies of everything to the interview though in the end they were not needed.

My other pieces of advice? :guides: They are their to help and really do! Also be sure to update your timeline so others can get an idea of how long each filing will take if done properly. :time:
