ei guys, any thought of this?

I have lived in another country specifically Vietnam. My fiance will be applying I-129F soon and I wanted to prepare the requirements needed for my K-1. One of the requirements is a police clearance from the country you have lived since 16 y.o.

My problem is that I am back in my country now (Philippines) and it's just difficult to go back to Vietnam just to get a police clearance. And also, there is a requirement which is a temporary residence which I don't have because it's with the house owner and I don't know if he still has it.

Do you know any other options to obtain the VIETNAM POLICE CLEARANCE?

NEED YOUR HELP.

thanks... God bless...

Go back to the embassy.

it always depends on who you talk to. There has to be a way to get that police clearance without having to go back to Vietnam.

here is something from the US state department regarding Vietnam...

http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/reciproc...ocity_3705.html

Police and Prison Records

Available.

Residents: Requests for a "Justice Record Check" (Phieu Ly Lich Tu Phap) are made at the Department of Justice office in an individual's district or official residence. The official residence is that registered in the "household registry" (Ho Khau) issued by the district police. There is a fee. The record check takes approximately three weeks to complete. The record check must be initiated in the district listed in the household registry as the citizen's official residence.

Non-Residents: Vietnamese citizens living overseas may request the "Justice Record Check" through the Vietnamese Embassy in their current country of residence. They may also request the "Justice Record Check" in person at their last place of residence in Vietnam, as reflected in their household registry.

Foreigners: Foreigners who reside or resided in Vietnam should contact the Vietnamese Department of Immigration in the district in which they currently reside/formerly resided to request the "Justice Record Check."

May try contacting US embassy in Hanoi too...to see if they can help...

http://vietnam.usembassy.gov/acs_specialservices.html

Justice Record Check

Foreigners who live or lived in Vietnam can obtain a “Justice Record Check” through the provincial Department of Justice in the provinces where they live or lived. Foreigners who cannot appear in person may provide a Power of Attorney authorizing another person along with photocopies of the requestor’s current passport and the requestor’s passport previously used in Vietnam (if different from current passport) to obtain the police letter and the "Justice Record Check". The Power of Attorney and copies of passports must be authenticated by a Vietnamese Embassy overseas or by the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affair’s Consular Department. The Power of Attorney must be translated into Vietnamese by a Vietnamese notary public.

"Our Wedding Prayer"

Lord, help us to remember when we first met,and the strong love that grew between us.

To work the love into practical things so nothing can divide us

Grant us a Love that grows stronger with each passing year.

We ask for words both kind and loving

and for hearts always ready to ask forgiveness as well as to forgive.

Guide us to overcome every challenge

and keep our dreams pure to each other always.

Dear Lord,we put our marriage into Your hands.Amen

If your heart acquires strength, you will be able to remove blemishes from others without thinking evil of them.

Hello! Thank you for all the replies.

Yes, I called Vietnam embassy in Manila and they were pushing me to go to Vietnam personally to get the police clearance. Well, it's difficult to talk to the guy who answered my call because he can barely speak English.

I have searched for any contact of the Department of Immigration in Vietnam but I can't get through the line. :(

I will try to email US embassy in Hanoi.

And yes,I am going to post this to Vietnam section. It's my first time here and I don't know where to go. Now, I learned a little about VJ as I was doing some reading and research. :star:

Thanks guys. God bless....

Hello!

@Marj, were you able to get a police clearance already?

Start a new topic, this topic is 7 years old and the poster hasn't been on VJ in 3 years
