CR-1 Filing- Tax Returns, possible I-864 problem because of address on files?

Hey all,

So we just got married here in Canada last month! First step done!

I posted before about tax problems affecting immigration process- (I had not filed for 7 years). So I went ahead and had my tax guy in California file all my returns for me for all years. He did a wonderful job preparing the returns and everything is in perfect organized order ready for me to send to the IRS. Fingers crossed I SHOULD receive money back!

The ONLY issue I have, is that I had given him my wife's address here in Canada to send the returns so that I could just take care of it while I'm visiting- but he had also put HER address on the actual returns. (I was hoping he would just use my California address on the paperwork and just send them here in Canada).

Do you think this is going to cause problems having each return for 7 years showing that my address is here in Canada? Should I have him re-do the returns showing the same address that I will be using for all immigration paperwork?

Just wanted to clear this up before we start the CR-1 process....

Thanks!

I have no idea, haven't seen this question before.

Obviously I had our Canadian address on our return - because we were living in Canada - so not an issue.

Where do you live now - are you still in Canada?

I currently still "live" in California... but am here in Canada visiting. I was planning to use my U.S. address for all documents- so I was worried that if my tax information shows her address it will cause delay in processing....

That's hard to say, I mean you are stating you are domiciled in the U.S. - will the 3 years of tax returns with a Canadian address make a difference - probably not, probably no one will notice.

Personally? I would have him do an adjustment for 06, 07 and 08.
