Hey everyone,

I just got an email notice saying that "EAD card production ordered". Just talked to my lawyer, and she said that this doesn't mean anything and I have to wait till I get the "approval letter" to start working. I had a few very promising interviews and really hope to get the EAD asap. But she said usually I could expect to receive the approval within a few days after the card production is ordered.

Has this ever happened to anyone? How long did it take you to get the approval?

Thanks!!!!

It took us about 10 days to receive the actual EAD card after we had got the "EAD card production ordered" email. You`ll get it pretty soon. Good luck job hunting!

Thanks so much, Septembergold! Did you get a separate approval letter as well? The HR dept of the company I am interviewing with couldn't wait any longer...

No, we didn`t get a separate approval letter for the EAD as far as I remember. You`ll just get the card and will be attached to an "approval notice". It just says - "Your application has been approved, here`s your new card". Sorry to hear about your job. I`m sure you`ll find something else.

You have 90 days to present a missing document if you have a receipt for a replacement document. Receipts for inital and renewal of employment authorization are not accepted.

i still fail to see how you can't work without a physical card, yet be approved to work. In most cases, it is solely up to the employer to decide on the wording. If they do hire him, he will just present it whenever he gets it in the email, if not - tough luck.
