Well Phil, I wish I had some advice I could offer that would help your wife. Our daughter was born march 20th but the first three months of her pregnancy were complete Hell for her. Everything she smelled made her sick and throw up but after the end of the third month things got a whole lot easier and she felt much better. I hope your wife starts to feel better soon and congratulations.

I second the ginger. I am 18 weeks pregnant at the moment and had bad nausea in the first trimester. Ginger totally helped. I loved the ginger Altoids and giner ale worked too. Candied ginger also works if she can get it. From what I have read, ginger interacts with the brain, fools it into not being sick. Works for motion sickness too and I used it when I had the stomach flu and worked then too.

You can try any of the following, or combination

-Small, non fatty meals. Anything that sounds good to her. I literally ate only chicken quesadillas for a week. You do whatever you can to survive the first trimester - don't worry if at this point it does not add up to a balanced meal.

-preggy pops (you can buy them at babiesr'us or motherhood maternity).

-Morning wellness tea from "earth mama angel baby", also at babiesr'us

-Ginger ale or other clear liquids. Iced water (glass full of ice and little water, sip slowly)

-Vitamin B6

-Try changing prenatals - her OB can recommend other vitamins that may not make her so sick

-Sleep!

If everything fails, there are prescriptions her OB can prescribe.

Good luck!

Saludos,

Caro

Hello everyone,

My poor wife is so sick from the nausea of her pregnancy. She is not sleeping well and can not eat without vomiting it back up 15 minutes after eating. :crying:

I am worried about her health and the health of the child.

Is there anything any of you ladies from the Philippines can tell me that she could take to help reduce the nausea? What do you ladies do to get through this trying time? She calls her mother everyday and that helps I am sure but as her mother has had 10 children its all old hat to her and she is not really all that sympathetic...

I plan to speak to our doctor this afternoon as well.

-Phil

Hope everything works out for you and your spouce. Congrats with the pregnancy.

Please don't make me into a saint! :innocent:

I don't get any sleep either so it more a matter of self sanity...

Some women find eating crackers or bread slowly to get something in the stomach can help relieve nausea. Small meals throughout the day is suggested, and usually bland food is better. Hopefully she will feel MUCH better within about 6 weeks!! The first trimester is usually the worst.

How sweet of you to do some research for her :D The doctor should be able to help a lot!

Congratulation....

and yes...i can still remember the self sanity part

Hopefully she will feel better soon...never hurt to get a doctor point of view also...
