Ah - the hypocrisy. Liberals hated GM when they were making gas guzzling SUVs, and they hate it

now that they are making green vehicles.

They talk the talk about being pro-union, hiring minorities and women in management, yet they buy

Asian cars and vote for the opposite with their money.

yup!

Toyota and Honda will more than top that in one year!

Sorry dude but when it comes to Honda accord vs Toyota Camry vs Holden (pontiac) G8, guess who wins when all of these three compete in the same market.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

FWIW, I'd never buy a 40k car unless it was super awesome.

Even with a $7,500 tax credit and some discounts / rebates?

Toyota and Honda will more than top that in one year!

They haven't even topped 100 mpg, let alone 230.

Even if my out of the door cost ends up as low as 30K, that's more scratch than I can afford. I expect there are many like me. And if the out of the door cost ends up at, say, 25k, I'll be looking at what I'm getting for that 25K. A car is, as you know, a lot more than just an MPG figure. There are other variables consumers look at and the car has to be competitive, at that price point, with its peers.

I am not talking about the US market.

Honda and Toyota build good cars, I am not denying that. This doesn't mean that modern US cars are #######. The US divisions played the wrong hands and lost. Then again, the F150 is still the best selling vehicle in the US in 2009. The new Taurus also looks like a great car.
