Also, all consulates have the option to perform "additional processing", though it seems fairly unusual for K visas in Kiev, it DOES happen. Until you hold the visa in your hand, you do not have it. They can tell you your visa is approved and THEN do additional processing. State department regulations allow them up to 30 days to do this AFTER they have everything they need. By the way, at the interview, they will tell you that you will receive your visa in "7-10 days" this is the standard statement. Usually it is available at Fedex in 2-3 business days. Weekends and holidays not counting.

Good luck

Thanks for all your replies, guys. It helps. Gary, do you know which user here had additional processing after the interview and why?

There are many threads about people having AP after their interview, though I do not know of a particular case in Kiev, which is why I say it seems rare with K-1s in Kiev. You can also look at the consulate reviews for Kiev and you will see most are very straight forward, it is not a difficult consulate. There also seem to be very few denials in Kiev though I know of two in the last few months. One involved falsified information, the other regarded a petitioner who's ex-wife still lived with him (or appeared to by records presented) Very unusual circumstances. I only mention it to caution you against making further plans until the visa is in hand (such as buy plane tickets). I do know one case this year where a visa was sent by Fedex and the truck was robbed en route and the passport and visa were lost in the robbery!!!! I mean, anything can happen!

I really hope things work out for you Conny, really. I am always pleased when another fellow "Ukrainian" gets their visa, especially since we end up having persoanl interests in many of them. Alla met a VJ member's fiancee we know when she went for Sergey's interview, she met another one on the plane when we came back who was coming to join her fiancee in the states and helped her with her I-94s and getting through her POE stuff (she had a 10 year old son who passed the time on the flight with our sons) .

But we can bandy this about all day and the bottom line is Kiev will do what they do and it is rarely exactly the same for any two people. I am sure Nadya is telling you exactly what happened in her case and I am telling you exactly what happened in our case. As far as Friday updates, it is simply not something I have checked on since last summer. Nadya indicates it was the same for her case which was more recent. The consulate has taken to not doing K interviews on Friday, so things have a changed a bit, maybe, just maybe, the Friday updates have also changed...but maybe not.

I wish you the best really, but I cannot offer anything but speculation at this point
