It is all good and nice now that we are immigrants (permanent residents) of the US; however in my opinion I do think that the "Welcome to America" brochure should be read by all immigrants. It consists of valuable and important information, such as our rights and responsibilities as LPR. You can get if from the USCIS.gov website or just Google it.

If you plan to travel outside US or cross the borders, my advice is keep a record on it or write down on a piece of paper the important informations such as the dates of travel, length of time spent outside US, etc.. and keep it in a safe place coz one day you will need those informations when you file for N-400 or US Citizenship if you choose to become a naturalized Citizen of this country of course. :star:

you got that right!

I printed this and sent it to my sweetheart months before she was here.

Its an excellent read for citizens as well as immigrants.

Bituin,

Stupid question. On the naturalization process, do i need to indicate all countries travelled on the duration i'm out of the country. My hubby and I are planning our summer vacation for 2010. We would be out for a week or 2 but during that vacation we would be jumping from one country to another.

Hi rhea kumusta?I don't really know the answer to your question but I believe USCIS only wants to make sure that you don't overstay outside (6 months and up)which breaks the residency requirement to be eligible to file for naturalization so jumping from one counrty to another wouldn't really matter Just make sure you list down the dates when you leave US and when you returned that is the most important. You may also post your queries on the US Citizenship forum ahead and get better response.Good luck and take care.
