We got to the to San bernardino office at 10:30 am our appointment was a 11 am. You have to pay a toll when you park in the parking lot. But you pay it when you come out. we were there around 3 and half hours so we had to pay 12 in cash when we left.

Anyway, we walked through the metal detectors and then took the elevator up to the second floor(i know, im lazy)we walked into the waiting room area there were quite a few people there. we walked up to the window and gave the receptionist (or whatever you call him) our appointment letter, we were told to have seat. We waited over 2 hrs. Then a nice looking filipino lady interviewer called us in and had us raise our right hand to swear to tell the truth. She has us for pictures, marriage certificate. she ask when and were we got married she asked me who the woman standing next to me in the picture was. She asked us like 3 times when we moved into our apt. She asked for proof of living together, like rental agreement and bankstatments. she asked us to show our atms cards to both our bank accounts and birth certificates. She wanted to see our full cell phone bill but I only had the first pages :( she asked for our tax return and w2 forms and other things but as I was still pulling them out we were also looking for cell phone bill in our folders and she actually forgot the tax forms. She asked me what my husbands mothers name was. where we spent our honeymoon, how we met who was at wedding. She asked to see our rings. She looked and kept some of our pictures. Then she asked me to step out in lobby and my husband was in there for 15 minutes then he came out and she asked me to come in.

She asked me what brand toothpaste we use and I didnt know. I told her I can tell her what it looks like and how it taste but I didnt notice the name because we usually buy just whats on sale and my husband bought it this time. (I was so dissappointed in myself because I drilled my husband on these types of things months ago :( She asked where we bought our rings. THen she asked what he had for dinner and I didnt know :( We had gotten back from a 3 day christian assembly and when it got late I just ate a sandwhich that was left over from our lunch cooler we took and he went to kitchen later and I heard him put someting in microwave but I didnt see what it was. I was sooooo tired from driving to and from long beach which is a 1 1/2 hour drive both ways for all 3 days, my mind was mush so I was not mentally prepared I guess. Anyways she had me draw a diagram of our bedroom. asked if we have a clock.....somehow i thought she meant alarm clock and I told her no we use our cell phones as alarm clocks! She asked again and I said no we dont have a clock!!! But We do have a clock on the wall but my mind was thinking she meant alarm clock! I am even the one who bought that stupid wall clock. Then she called him in and said she is going to have to review everyting further and we should know in 90 days!!! I was floored, I asked her is there a reason we werent aproved and she just said it was common proceedure. I started crying and my husband felt bad and said to me that it was ok that there is no problem she just needs to review it. but I was so upset I told him in front of her that Im just tired of this whole immigration issue and all the waiting and alll the paperwork. She said she had to have a boss sign something and went out and I was just so upset. my husband kept assuring me everything would be ok that we are not trying to scam anyone and they will see that for sure once they review everying. But I was so upset and crying and telling him that I know they will approve us but having to wait another 90 days is not what I wanted.I wanted it to be over, having to assembly stupid packages and gathering proof and waiting. I said that it reflects on me because I am the one who filed all the papers and put it all together since he really depended on me for that and now Im to blame. He kept assuring me it was ok just be patient but I was so upset. We started to argue just a lil about how I could have forgotten that stupid clock and name of toothpaste. But I know it was stupid mistake that is why i was crying mostly because of my stupidity. She then came in with all the paper work and I was still crying and I told her im sorry i thought she meant alarm clock and my husband said "and she was the one who bought it!" but he was trying to joke around to lighten my mood. She then turned to her computer and said "I have approved your application today I just had to be sure and show it to my boss" I dont know if it was test or what changed her mind but I started crying again but with relief. She then told my husband he will be sent a 10 year green card and congratulations.

So our immigration journey is finally over :) Thank all of you for all your advice and experiences this forum really helped us, hugs to everyone!! Keep strong and dont give up. Pray pray pray!

Wow!

I would have the same experience you did. All though right as I sit here I do not know his mothers name. I know his dad's name because it is the same as my son's. but I can't remember. There are a couple of friends of his in the pictures that I do not remember their names at this moment.

WE buy toothpaste on sale. My husband is still using (8months now) toothpaste from Africa, which I do not know the name of. I know it taste like #######. LOL

I only cook about 5-7 meals a week. The rest of the time he is making some African dish, usually right before I get hom from work. An I grab left over’s or something quick while he is reading and not paying attention.

Well at least there isn't a clock in our room.

Good to hear the good news. I think seeing your reaction and his response to you really solidify your relationship for her.

Congrats.

Wow, I'm so sorry to hear the stress you went through. It's ridiculous! Why do people have to follow some conventional marriage to be labeled "authentic" anyway? Like having rings and using the same toothpaste. I suppose there has to be some way of stemming the tide of would-be immigrants, but this raises so many questions. Whew! I guess it's a good thing we didn't have an interview or my outspoken ways would probably have gotten us in trouble. My husband is a kind of artist type and can't remember mundane details not to mention his address (ugh!), so we would have failed big time. And then he would have said, "I don't need this country! I love my country and I'm going back to Ghana thank you very much." I can just picture the whole thing....

CONGRATS to Efia06 though! Yay! :dancing:

Sorry she put you guys through the ringer

I remember at our AOS interview she asked me what my mother in law's name was.

But to ask you all those other questions is ridiculous. But thank goodness you got through it
