do we have to send ORIGINALS with DS230???

hi all just wanted to check if we have to send teh original birth certi, marriage certi, PCC etc with DS230????can we send a photocopy and take teh originals with me when i hv my interview?????

Also i have been reading that we should make 2 copies of the documents for DS230 ...WHY????

i sent all my original with DS230 bcz it says on my form that send original. after sending originals i got interview letter in about 10 days. u can make copy as many as u like if u need them. u only send one copy original DS230 . i also sent the copies of all the documents with originals, good luck

My understanding is that you need to send in the originals.

One for you, one for your spouse for your records.

Send originals,, and a photo copy as well. The originals are supposed to be returned to you at the interview (from what I understand - not sure thoughj).

yes u can do that

send both together is acceptable

i put original in the top and copies on the bottom of the DS230

make sure to include the cover sheet with the barcode on the top too

make sure that use usps express mail delivery so u can track it online

originals or certified copies - it's different for every country but that's what's been required from nvc. they'll return all original documents at the day of interview.

and yes, you could send them together, after you pay for both of them and get a cover sheet for each one that you'll need to attach to each package.

im not sure they HAVE to return, make a statement addressing this in your application and remember to ask at interview before leaving if they dont

also with DS230 i dont need to send the cover sheet after the fees are paid right?its my hubby who will have to attach it with the I864 packet...am i correct?

hey AbbynSheryl what barcode????i did not know that DS230 has a bar code:( also is there a format for a cover letter???

I sent my choice of agent form via email so tht did not require a barcode but never read about a 230 having one. Am i wrong in my thinking?

When you pay the fee for the I-864 and the DS230 it generates a coversheet with a barcode, you must print that off and iattach it to each of the packets.

NVC will not accept the packet without this coversheet.

Just follow the instructions that are included with the email for NVC.

hey thanks so much...but both fees are paid by teh petitioner and in my case my husband is the one...so then he has to send me those cover sheets...is that correct?

Get all the documents together, download the DS-230, complete the DS-230 and send it and all the required documents to your husband. better for him to mail to nvc than you. or if you want to send it get your husband to save the coversheet to file and then email it to you so you can print it out and include it with the packet.

You have to send the originals.. you will get them back when you go for the interview. I send the original + 1 copy of each certificate, they will keep the copy and give you back the original.
